The Supporters’ Team of the Year competition is your chance to reward those PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland players that have shown outstanding skill, leadership and entertainment value over the course of the 2014 season.

Only players nominated by the senior head coaches at the PlayStation 4 NPL Queensland clubs are eligible for selection. However, the choice of the final eleven players is entirely up to you – the supporters.

To assist with selecting your Supporters’ Team of the Year, we profile those players nominated for the two wing positions.

Jai Ingham (Brisbane Roar FC NYL)

A break-out year in 2013 saw Ingham make his Hyundai A-League debut, however he continued his development into the winter months as part of Roar’s youth team. Blessed with blistering pace, astute positioning and an eye for goal, Roar proved a far more devastating side with Ingham in the line-up. A mid-season break effectively ended his chances of the Golden Boot, but the 21-year-old still chimed in with an impressive 13 goals in 11 appearances.

Reuben Way (Olympic FC)

Formerly with Redlands United, Way had little trouble transferring his form to Goodwin Park this year as he plundered 24 goals to finish behind only Chris Lucas and Royce Brownlie in the Golden Boot race. Quick, strong and armed with a powerful shot, Way wreaked havoc on defences for the second season running with his direct style. His performances caught the eye of Brisbane Roar coach Mike Mulvey, who has offered the 24-year-old an ongoing trial.

Nico Bechar (Redlands United FC)

Switching from Sunshine Coast Fire to the bayside club for this season, Bechar once again proved himself as one of the league’s stand-out left-sided players. Fleet-footed and sharp on the ball, the 24-year-old Frenchman demonstrated unrivalled decision making as he consistently delivered for his teammates from wide areas. Also a goal-scoring threat, Bechar netted eight goals for the Red Devils.

Danny Byrne (Olympic FC)

Olympic captain Byrne backed up his 2013 tally of 20 goals by again reaching double figures as his side fell just short of defending their title. Troubled by niggling injuries, Byrne’s leadership and quality on the ball shined through as he delivered 11 goals from 25 appearances. Considered a club stalwart, his stoppage time winner in a see-sawing Semi Final win over FNQ FC Heat will be talked about for years to come by the Olympic faithful.

Jamie Carroll (FNQ FC Heat)

One of the Far North’s favourite sons, Carroll overcame indifferent early season form to once more assert himself as one of the key members of Heat’s highly potent attack. His new-found resolve paid dividends for the pacy attacker as he scored five goals this season, however the 24-year-old proved the vital link in many more for the slick passing Cairns outfit.
