St George have claimed the Under 19s Division One premiership after a 47 point victory over North Shore at Blacktown on Saturday.
The Dragons led at every break and ended up running out convincing winners 11.11 to 4.6.
The crowd didn’t have to wait to long for the first goal with Riley Waters converting from a set shot 40 metres out, 4 minutes into the game. North Shore settled and eventually responded with a goal of their own to Jake Monk 8 minutes later. In a low scoring quarter, the Dragons took a 1 point to the first change.
The second quarter would prove pivotal as St George took control of the game dominating the play and kicking five goals to two in the second term to take a 21 point lead into the main change.
The third quarter was a much tighter affair with the Bombers throwing everything at the Dragons to get back into the game. Despite the pressure, the Dragons scored 2 goals for the quarter while restricing the Bombers to just the one to take a 21 point lead into the last huddle.
The last quester was all St George as they dominated all over the ground and kicked four goals to zero to run out comfortable victors.
The Dragons who have been very consistent across the Under 19 (formerly Under 18) competition for some time were finally rewarded with the ultimate prize and a just reward for their hard work and strong links with their local junior clubs.
Timothy Tegg was strong through the middle and was awarded the Best on Ground medal and was well supported by Riley Waters who ended with five goals with Dylan Sanderson also kicking three goals. For the Bombers, Zach Fyffe tried his best to lift his side to a grand final victory with Angus Quail and Michael Goode also providing good support
