The umpires for this weekends Premier Division Grand Final have been announced.
Carl Fletcher, Aden Kittel and Frank Kalayzich have been handed the opportunity to umpire the biggest game of the AFL Sydney season. This is fantastic reward for all umpires involved with this selection meaning that they are the best umpires in the competition.
Kalayzich is umpiring his tenth Grand Final and at 51 years old is the oldest of the group. Fletcher, who was voted the AFL Sydney Umpire of the Year at Phelan Medal night last Monday, is umpiring his second Grand Final while Kittel is making his debut on the big stage.
The boundary umpire for the match are Matthew Hodgson, Fahri Ozturk and Ben Russell. Goal Umpires are Oliver Beecroft and Alex Chisholm with the emergency umpire being Jackson Stokes.
Ozturk is umpiring his 2nd Grand Final while all other umpires are in their first appearances on Premier Division Grand Final day. Chisholm at 15 years old is the youngest of the umpires and at such a young age is a fantastic achievement.
AFL Sydney umpires coach, Ashley Thomas, was very happy with the umpires that have been chosen, "the Premier Division umpires are a fantastic mix of young and older umpires. It's a testament to our umpiring group in being able to look to future of umpiring but also that we appoint our best umpires to officiate in the top AFL Sydney match for 2014."
Good luck to all umpires umpiring tomorrow Grand Finals
