KEY MATCH UPS
Goal kicking trio’s – Both sides rely heavily on three players in particular to impact the scoreboard. For the Cougars Callum Banim, and the Makuach brothers (Deng & Akol), for the Lions looking to Riley Ernst, Deklan Branson and Jack Hall to chalk up majors. The battle of the goal-kickers and whoever can chalk up the most, well it is simple, that side will win.
Brodie Speed V Jacob Rooney – Though these players are more than likely won’t line up against each other, their impact on the contest will be pivotal. Both players have exceptional pace and can run and run and run. Speed and Rooney, can at times be erratic by foot but can break games open with their outside run but they won’t be afraid to go inside and get their own.
Lachlan Carmody V Theodore Baldock – Two very hard at it type players, which always put the team before themselves. They won’t go head to head at any stage but their drive off their respective half-back lines is exactly what their team-mates will be looking for. The ultimate team players and two young-guns every team would love to have.
THE FINAL SAY
It is hard to pick a winner between these two sides, however University have won the last 5 games between the two clubs and that gives them favouritism going into the decider. The Cougars are fresh and the Lions are coming off a brutal preliminary against the Bombers. Will definitely be a close contest.
