Sprason the man
Scores were level at 48-all with 4 seconds on left in the McDonald's Cup Preliminary Final and the game was demanding a hero from either side.
With the footy in the Coolaroo forward 50, all the Roos had to do was score. This is where goal-kicking ace James Sprason stepped in. The footy was sent in long into the attacking zone of the Roo's, a fifty-fifty contest with the ball spilling out the back of the marking players.
Sprason streamed passed, slickly picking up the footy with Swans players closing in fast. Sprason took a few steadying steps in the north eastern pocket of Rockville and split the goals as the final siren sounded.
It was his moment, one of the top plays of the McDonald's Final series.
The Roo's did bounce out to an early 14-point lead at the first break, keeping the Swans goal-less. However, Dalby replicated what Coolaroo did the opening quarter and kept the premiers goal-less for the second quarter, while going on to kick two of their own and cut the Roos lead back to 2-points.
In a first half that only saw 4-mjaors from both sides, Dalby and Coolaroo kicked 5 in total for the third quarter. Dalby booted 3 of those 5 to lead for the first time in the final and take a handy 4-point lead into the final stanza.
It was a nail-biting final quarter, with again both sides kicking 5 majors for the term. However, it was Coolaroo who kicked more, with the 5-second to go, in the moment goal by James Sprason.
Coolaroo now set up a Grand-Final show-down with Highfields Lions as the Roos look to go back to back.
