This means a full 15 day break. Second chances to Echuca Under 18's, Kyabram Reserves and Ky Seniors who all go into the Preliminiary Finals, also at Deakin Reserve, but this Sunday 21st September. Fantastic ground, sensational weather, great facilities & catering - a terrific day.

Benalla's Goals kicked by Nick BRAZIL with 4, Nick SPENCER with 3, Jayden JONES 2 and singles to Patrick ROBINSON, Riley MORAN and Jack DOIDGE. The Saints Best players were recorded to be :- Bushranger David MENNEN, Jayden JONES, Cody CRAWFORD, Nick SPENCER, Jack DOIDGE and Lachy THOMPSON. Echuca's Goal Kickers were :- Sam CUMMINS, Layton McCANN, Jack MONOGHETTI, Patrick CONNOLLY, Will ROSENOW and Mitchell HORE. The Murray Bombers were best served by Mitch HORE, Tom McMINN, Tom WILSON, Zac BRUNS, Will ROSENOW and Nick McCANN. Benalla can watch on next Sunday to see who they will play in the Grand Final - Echuca again or perhaps Seymour who defeated Euroa at Ky on the Sunday in the 1st Semi. Author's tip :- Benalla to play Seymour ????
Benalla last won an Under 18 flag in 2004 when they defeated the perennial bridesmaid Shepp United - 8.10 (58) to the Demons 6.10 (46).
Reserves :- A very committed and determined Euroa lead brilliantly by President Scott WATSON from the half back line advance into the Grand Final with a solid victory over Kyabram. The Maggies were ahead all day to win by 25 points - final score Euroa 11.12 (78) to Kyabram 8.5 (53). The Maggies were only up by 2 points at 1/2 time but had a great 3rd quarter kicking 5 goals 8 to the Bombers 1 goal 1 behind. Euroa's Goal Kickers were :- Brad GLEESON 5, Eddie CARRACHER 3, Hayden SAVILLE, Scott WATSON and Chris McKAY with one each. Best Players for Euroa were :- Andrew HILL, Klay GIOVANNINI, Zac WHITE, Brad GLEESON, Eddie CARRACHER and Scott WATSON. Ky's Goal Kickers were :- Troy MITCHELL with 2, Jarryd PERTZEL and Besim BESIM also with 2 each. Singles to Sean McDONELL and Tom JONES. Ky's best players were listed as :- Jayden PERTZEL, Brady CORSO, Harley ORCHARD, Stephen DRAKE, Besim BESIM and Tom JONES.
Euroa Reserves last won a Reserves flag in 1997 when they defeated Echuca by 9 points - 8.8 (56) to 6.11 (47)
Seniors :- Nine minutes into the first quarter was when the first goal in the 2nd Semi was kicked; kicked by Nick WARNOCK from Benalla having kicked the first score of the game with a point at the two and a half minute mark. Goals by Will SULLIVAN at the 11 and a half minute mark and then another by Tom O'BRIEN at the 21.40 mark just before 1/4 time showed the Saints leading Kyabram 3.5 (23) to just two points courtesy of Hayden GEMMILL and Aaron HAYES. Benalla then kicked 5.5 in the 2nd quarter to Kyabram's 3.1 - Benalla lead at 1/2 time 8.8 (56) to 3.3 (21) - 35 points. Ky did not kick their first goal until the 15.30 mark of the 2nd quarter when Paul NEWMAN snapped cleverly from about 30 metres out. The big crowd were all expecting the Bombers to come out and turn things around and although they won the 3rd quarter 3 goals 2 to 2 goals 3 they had made very little headway and did not look like they were going to get back into the game. Jason MORGAN and Brad EDWARDS were giving their all and Josh VICK was standing tall down back on Nick WARNOCK. At 3/4 time the Saints lead 10.11 (71) to 6.5 (41) - Saints 5 goals up with the prize of having two weeks off before a Grand Final appearance. Ky opened the last quarter with a goal from Liam BARRETT at the 3.30 mark but then in stepped Josh MELLINGTON with goals at the 7:20 mark and again at the 10:30 mark with a goal in the middle by James MARTYN. Three goals in three minutes really put the game beyond doubt and then to add to Ky's woes they lost Hayden GEMMILL at the 11:50 mark when he was reported for an offence upon Nick WARNOCK and yellow carded. Josh MELLINGTON kicked his 4th at the 19:30 mark and then James MARTYN kicked his 4th just before the final siren. Benalla won by 55 points - a comprehensive victory - 15.13 (103) to 7.6 (48). Benalla had winners all over the ground - very hard to just name 6 as the best players and they had 8 goal-kickers. Other than Jason MORGAN, Josh VICK, Brad EDWARDS, Josh LINTON and big Jake REEVES who battled his guts out against Will SULLIVAN and Josh MARCHBANK, Ky had too many good players who hardly gave a yelp. Benalla named their best players to be Jake PALLPRATT, Lachie SMITH at centre half back, Jimmy MARTINELLO, Al JACKA, James MARTYN. Jordon WOLFF played an excellent game on Paul NEWMAN and even came up the ground at one stage to slot a goal. Luke MORGAN kicked 2, another very inspirational leadership game; youngster Nick MELLINGTON kicked one - he has fitted into this side beautifully - no wonder he was the captain of the Murray Bushrangers with his poise and footy smarts; big Will SULLIVAN kicked one as did Cam SYMES and Tom O'BRIEN. For Kyabram Liam OGDEN has a very quiet day but kicked 2 goals as did Paul NEWMAN who appeared to be more laconic than usual which suggests he could be carrying something. Ryan EMMETT, Jason MORGAN and Jake REEVES were the other goal kickers.
Ky will have to imrpove a big heap to stand any chance against the Swans in the Prelim. Benalla suffered a cruel blow when very steady experienced Ryan COLBERT suffered a broken collar bone but on the bright side of things we are informed that Brodie WEBSTER will be right and Yappa McKEAN will be available and believe it or not there is some talk that Will MARTINELLO will play. These next two Sundays promise to be fantastic.
First Semi Finals at Kyabram on Sunday :-
Under 18's :- Seymour advance into the Preliminary final to take on Echuca with a strong hard fought out victory over the gallant young Euroa side. Seymour won 12.11 (83) to 9.8 (62) - Chooka WINTER-IRVING kicked 3 for the Lions, Xavier DEMASI, Julian MORGAN, Max JONES and Jesse THELEN each kicked 2 and one goal to Benjamin TARRAN. The Lions best were Thomas MARTIN, Corey ROWLANDS, Jordon HOCKLEY, Kyle WINTER-IRVING, Jake O'BRIEN and Max JONES. The Magpies today had 4 lads who could be still playing in the Under 16 competition and three lads who are registered as "overage". The young Maggies have some real talent and the future looks bright, certainly for quality if not for quantity as their Under 16 team played off in the Grand Final this same day against Alexandra and in fact won the Flag. The Magpies goals were kicked by Ryley BJORKSTEN who got 3, Liam BROWN kicked 2, singles to James WRIGHT, Kyle ANDREWS, Nicholas BRODIE and Robert STAFF. Their best players were named as Ryley BJORKSTEN, Max GLEESON, Curtis HOBBS, Angus MURRAY and Brayden PAULKE.
Seymour v Echuca in the Prelim to see who plays Benalla in the Grand Final.
Reserves :- Benalla are still a big chance to get the three footy sides into the Grand Final with their Reserves having a very good win over the spirited but somewhat overwhelmed Shepparton Swans. The Saints lead at every change and won every quarter. Final score was Benalla 12.13 (85) to the Swans 4.5 (29). Benalla's goals were kicked by :- Brendan STEVENS with 4 (could he play Seniors??), Michael DONEHUE 2, Jamie SMITH, Brody JONES Sam KUNKEL, Joel EASTWOOD, Patrick HIDE and Jack FRAMPTON each with one. The Saints best players in a very good team effort were Sam GLADSTONE, Zachary AMARANT, James DALTON Patrick HIDE, Brody JONES and Jack FRAMPTON. The Swans goals were kicked by Jack STEVENSON, Anthony TAUTALA, Daniel CAMPBELL and Ian FRY. Their best players were named as Ian FRY, Jaydan THEWMA, Nathan BAROLLI, Andrew MARSHALL, Rick KIRKMAN and Lewis O'SULLIVAN.
Benalla v Ky in the Prelim Final to take on Euroa in the Big Dance. The winner this Sunday? Benalla !!
Seniors :- A wounded and ageing Bulldogs are finished for the season after coming up against a very committed and fit Shepparton Swans outfit. Tat started off ok and in fact lead by 7 points at 1/4 time - 2.4 (16) to 1.3 (9) but that was it. Jayden YOUNG for Tat kicked the first goal of the day at the 17 minute mark of the first quarter and then Tom SULLIVAN kicked his first just before 1/4 time At half time you could sort of feel that the Swans were going to win - they were up 6.8 (44) to Tatura 4.6 (30) - In the third quarter the Swans were rushing too quickly into their forward fifty and sprayed the footy to register 3 goals 7 for the quarter to the Bulldogs one goal 2 behinds. Likewise in the last quarter the Swans were a bit rushed and again kicked 2 goals 6 behinds - the main offender being Justin MADDERN who had kicked 5 points before getting his first goal at the 19 minute mark of the last quarter. James SULLIVAN was by far the best Bulldog on the ground if not in fact the best player on the ground - he burrowed in all day, his heart as big as himself - a great game but nothing can be taken away by younster B.J. Bryden SQUIRE who is a real talent - so calm and steady who uses the footy so well - he was named the Swans best player along with Tommy PREECE, superfit Jamason DANIELS, Tyson SIDEBOTTOM (of course), Daniel LOVICK and Michael TINKLER. The Swans goals were kicked by Brodie A'VARD 2, and singles to Alex OVERS, Jesse FINNEN, Michael TINKLER, Harry MADDERN, Paul FRY, Josh CHAPMAN, Andrew RIORDAN, Sidey and Brady CHILDS. Tommy SULLIVAN kicked 3 for Tat, 2 by Jayden YOUNG and the other goal was kicked by Daniel FLYNN. Tatura named James SULLIVAN as their best with Tim LANYON, Jayden YOUNG, Chris RYAN, Sean MARTIN and Thomas SULLIVAN. What fantastic servants have Paul KIRBY and Linc WELLINGTON been to the Bulldogs?
On the performance of both Kyabram on Saturday at Seymour and the Swans at Kyabram on Sunday - it would seem that Huss's Bookmaker mate Tommy WATERGATE will have the Swans as red-hot favourites to defeat Ky in the Prelim to go on and have another crack at Benalla in the Grannie.
