MATCH DETAILS - U14 Preliminary Final
Toowoomba V University
11:00am
Saturday 13th September, 2014
Rockville Oval, Tor Street - Toowoomba
Toowoomba will face the University Cougars this Saturday morning in the Under 14 McDonald's Shield preliminary final, with the winner set to face Dalby in the Grand-Final.
Picking the winner may seem straight forward with University recording two convincing wins during the regular season. However this is finals footy and University must expect a tough contest.
In both matches this season, the result has been one sided with the Cougars roaring to victory.
Round 8, University ran riot in their 69-point win and then again in Round 17 the Cougars kept the Tigers goal-less in their 53-point triumph. Abdullah Haddad (rd8) and Emmanul Fallah (rd17) were the key destroyers and must be watched closely.
The Tigers do have their own secret weapons.
Aiden Edwards, Callan Wilson and Eric Rattray are all players who have been talked about all year for the yellow and black but they have a few players that a key to their success.
Brenton Dierke and Jacob Martens are two Tigers that have gone under the radar of most clubs, with the ever consistent Tiger cubs the reason behind Toowoomba's 12 - 2 season. The impact of Dierke and Martens will be key if the Tigers are to progress to the Grand-Final.
Andrew Bani-Freeman looms as a game-changer for the Cougars, with the agile and pacey midfielder dominating against Coolaroo a fortnight ago in the elimination final.
What we can predict is this is going to be a close contest and the winner a deserving side to reach the 2014 McDonald's Shield Grand-Final.
