DarlingDowns.AFLQ.com.au spoke to Dalby Swans coach Sam Banks ahead of his sides clash with the South Toowoomba Bombers in Sunday's Blackchrome Cup decider.
After coming into the AFL Darling Downs women's premier competition at such late notice back in March, it has been a quick rise to the top with Coach Banks labelling it an almighty step in the clubs move into the right direction.
"Making the grand final in the women's competition has brought a lot of people together in our club.
"Coming from late to register (in the competition) to making it (Grand-Final) in the first year, is something we are all proud," a delighted Coach Banks said.
"Training this week will be back to basics and (an emphasis on) having fun but not forgetting it is our last game."
Coach Banks also added that his message won't change from what it has all year.
"My message to our team is back to basics, have fun and enjoy playing for each other."
South Toowoomba have dominated the women's competition over the past two season, however Dalby were and always will be the first team in history to break the Bombers record winning streak of 19-games.
The Swans defeated South Toowoomba by 42-points in Round 18 but to do it again Banks knows they will have to play to their own strengths.
"We need to be solid in defence and keep playing for each other as a team," Banks said on repeating their round 18 feat.
"As always (we will) be mindful of Bella (Isabelle Baldock), Georgie (Seaniger) and Chloe (MacDonald), as when combined they can run over you pretty quickly."
It has been a big season for the rookie Swans but no matter the result on Sunday the entire football club and team should be proud of their efforts; a Grand-Final appearance in just their first season is an outstanding achievement.
Dalby face the South Toowoomba Bombers at Rockville Oval from 12:30pm, this Sunday 14th September in the AFL Darling Downs Women's Blackchrome Cup Grand-Final.
