Half Forward Flank - Stephanie Walker (Sydney University) -
This is Walker's first appearance in the Team of the Year. The 2013 Rising Star winner has taken her game to a new level and is now one of the stars of competition. She made the 2014 representative side that played Canberra, kicking two goals in the series and was awarded best on ground by the umpires in Game 1. She has been outstanding around goals averaging a goal a game in her 15 games played this year. Her performance against Macquarie University in Round 9 was her best for the year and was voted best on ground by the coaches.
Centre Half Forward - Rebecca Beeson (Macquarie University) -
The 17 year old Beeson is also making her first representation in the Team of the Year. The young forward was one of the main catalysts for Macquarie University making the finals, providing a strong option up forward. In 2014, Beeson was also a part of the NSW/ACT Youth Girls state side and performed extremely well kicking 10 goals in four games.
Half Forward Flank - Mai Nguyen - (UNSW/ES) -
Nguyen is another player making her first showing in the Team of the Year. One of the best ball users in the competition, Nguyen showed plenty of that throughout the year pumping the ball inside 50 and hitting up her teammates with regularity. Nguyen was also a key member of the Representative side that played Canberra in both games.
Forward Pocket - Ashlee Morgan (Sydney University) -
Morgan is making her second straight appearance in the Team of the Year. Although she injured her knee halfway through the year, Morgan was on fire in front of goals. She kicked 13 goals in the first half of the year while also assisting in plenty of others. She played in the first representative match against Canberra before her injury stopped her taking any further part in the season.
Full Forward - Verna Iles (Newtown) -
Iles is back in the Team of the Year adding this year’s selection with her selection in 2012. Iles was the leading goalkicker in the Women's Division One competition this year with 25 majors. She started the year in hot form kicking 11 goals in three games in what was the start of what would be a very good year for Iles. She was also named in the Representative side for game 1 against Canberra.
Forward Pocket - Aoife McDonnell (Sydney University) -
McDonnell is also making her first appearance in the Team of the Year. Averaging just under a goal a game, her forward pressure inside the 50 metre arc was a highlight and one of the many reasons why Sydney University have gone through the year undefeated. Her three goal performance against Balmain in Round 2 was argubly her best performance of the year.
