DarlingDowns.AFLQ.com.au spoke to South Toowoomba women's coach Sophie Smith, ahead of the Bombers clash with Dalby in this Sunday's Blackchrome Cup Grand-Final.
In an in depth interview, Smith didn't give too much away but said it was all about playing their style of footy.
"Dalby have a team of skilful players and this was evident in there elimination final last weekend against Coolaroo.
"However, we are going out to play our game style of football.
"Our key to victory is to play our style of football.
"Communication and team work are also our keys to a successful game of football, we are going out on the weekend together as a team to show how well we work together, playing the game of football that we all love."
South Toowoomba finished the regular season on top of the ladder, collecting back to back minor premierships with an unbeaten run stretching over 19-games. Dalby were the side to finally defeat the Bombers (Rd18) and no doubt that particular winning streak record will stand for quite some time.
Smith said that her, the teams and clubs focus was all about lifting the profile of female Australian Rules in the region and making the Grand-Final is another massive achievement for everyone involved.
"Making the grand final means a great deal to myself, the team and our club.
"Over the past two seasons we have shown opposition clubs and the community just how serious we take our football.
"Making the grand final for the second year running is a positive aspect for our football club, especially our younger female junior players who look up to the women’s team as role models and this means a great deal to our players and club as we pride ourselves on being a family orientated community club," the reigning women's premiership coach said.
However, Smith added that even though Grand-Final week is completely different to regular season weeks with hype around the club and media. They had learnt from last years’ experience and it will be business as per usual.
"Training this week will be similar to previous training sessions leading up to the finals series, focusing on some extra skills to enhance our team work and ability in preparation for this weekend."
Smith was asked about what her key message was to her players at training this week.
"To go out there, play football and have fun. Grand Final opportunities don’t come around too often, so we will be making sure we have fun and play to the best of our abilities," Smith said.
South Toowoomba face the Dalby Swans at 12:30pm this Sunday 14th September at Rockville Oval. Make sure you get to witness greatness and see who is crowned the 2014 AFL Darling Downs Women's Blackchrome Cup Premiers.
