The Dalby Swans have set up a Grand-Final show down with the South Toowoomba Bombers, after defeating Coolaroo by 130-points in the Blackchrome Cup Preliminary Final.
It wasn't the margin that was the most impressive factor of the victory but the way the Swans did it.
Dalby moved the footy with ease, playing with a run and carry style game, backing their own ability to break the lines. They had 8 individual goal-kickers, sharing the load going inside 50. Brigid Gaur, Jessie Henning and Jodie Ingleton all kicked three majors in a game that sent a message to the reigning premiers that the Swannies are coming.
However, Coolaroo can walk away with their heads held high. Making the Preliminary Final in just their first season is an outstanding achievement and they have numerous star players.
Jenille Pasfield was the Roos best a-field; the hard running midfielder was superb. Her defensive and pressure acts were outstanding, along with her run and carry and she is the Roos spiritual leader on-field. Add to Pasfield's efforts, Michelle Horsfall and Alarha Miller continued their outstanding finals form with very good games.
Madigan Paine had an outstanding game as well, following on from her efforts against Goondiwindi in the Elimination Final last week. Paine would have to be the favourite for the Roos best finals player award with her tireless efforts in the midfield and across half-back.
For the Swans, it was an all-round team performance led by Danielle Wall. The 2013 Heather Green Medallist was outstanding and takes in good form for the Grand-Final decider against South Toowoomba.
Random Fact: Danielle Wall played in the 2013 Premiership for South Toowoomba and will face off against her old side in the 2014 decider, a first for not only the women's competition but AFL Darling Downs.
It wasn't a complete shut-out for the Swans, as the Roos were able to surge forward on numerous occasions in the final term and were able to register a behind for their indefatigable efforts.
Dalby ran out 18.23 (131) to 0.1 (1) victors over Coolaroo and set up an epic Women's Blackchrome Cup Grand-Final this Sunday 14th September.
