It will be business as per usual for the University Cougars according to Coach Andrew Speed, as the minor premiers of the Under 12's competition are set to face rivals South Toowoomba on Saturday morning.
DarlingDowns.AFLQ.com.au spoke to the Cougars coach Andrew Speed ahead of their finals blockbuster with the Bombers.
"Although it's a final we won't to treat it as a normal game with the same preparation we have adopted all year."
Speed also said that they will make the most of their finals experience, "(We will) enjoy the experience of a final and make sure we play hard but fair.
"Not everyone is fortunate enough to play in a qualifying final but the kids have earned this right."
Both sides have met twice this season, with University taking the premiership points in round 6 by 71 points but the Bombers turned the tables in round 15 with a hard fought 13-point victory.
University won't be changing anything up from the round 15 match but know they must be on top of their game if they are to defeat the Bombers.
"South’s are a really good side with some key players, so will need to bring our 'A' game on Saturday," Coach Speed said.
"Last time we met we had a few key position players missing which really messed up our structures, so hopefully with these players returning we will match up much better than our last meeting, " Speed added.
Both sides have key players to watch out for; University boasting numerous stars in Brodie Speed, Akol Makuach, Callum Banim, Jarrad Watts, the list goes on. South Toowoomba will no doubt have set plans and have particular match ups for the Cougars star line up.
University will be mindful of the Bombers key players in Maddie Woodall, Seth Hamm, Nicholas Nugent, Mitch Anderson and co. However, Cougars coach Speed said there are a few players the Cougars will be mindful of.
"Jackson Montgomery has proven to be a key player for the Bombers as well as the Nugent pair," Speed said of who the most dangerous Bombers are.
Both sides boast impressive playing lists, superb coaching staff and both play a similar style of footy. Playing on the wide open spaces of Reddies Oval will be a test for the young boys and girls but both sides have worked hard on their fitness throughout the season and are the premier sides for running out games strongly.
With the winner progressing to the grand-final and the loser set to facing a red hot Lions outfit, predictions lead to the first mentioned rather than the latter as the preferred pathway
