Highfields Lions, University Cougars and the Dalby Swans have all kept their seasons alive after the weekend's McDonald's Juniors elimination finals at Gold Park.
The Under 12 Lions roared to the first victory of the day, defeating understrength Lockyer Valley by 83-points. However, credit must go to Highfields in the way they glided the football inside forward 50. Riley Ernst was the Lockyer Valley's biggest demon, as the Lions key forward booted 6-majors in a dominate display.
Ernst kicked a major in each of the quarters for his tally of 6, with midfielder come forward Deklan Branson bagging three of his own.
Lockyer Valley sorely missed Justus Liddicoat who was a late withdrawal with illness but the young Demons never gave in. Rover Robert Gillett and defender Seth Jones were the Demons best in the elimination final loss.
Highfields 12.12 (84) defeated Lockyer Valley 0.1 (1). Click here for full match details.
It was a similar situation in the Under 14 McDonald's Shield elimination final with the reigning premiers unable to tame the Cougars. Diing Akol booted 8-majors in one of the most dominate finals displays in some time.
With the Roos missing a few bigger bodied key players, they were unable to go with University after quarter-time.
University showed that they more than just a premiership contender after their emphatic 21.10 (136) to 2.2 (14) win over Coolaroo. Ethan Carmody was superb down back, Abdullah Haddad, Andrew Bani-Freeman and Lincoln Beutell were impressive in the middle. The Cougars running machines in Diing Akol, Emmanual Fallah were outstanding as was key forward Harry Potter who took numerous contested marks at centre half-forward.
For the Roos, Judah Jackson fought hard all day and was the Coolaroo's best, with Braden Walker also having a very good game.

The Under 16 McDonald's Cup elimination final lived up to expectations, with Dalby and Warwick giving it their all in the thrilling encounter.
Scores were locked at the first break with neither side able to break the shackles, with Dylan Vansetten (Dalby) and Braedan Mann (Warwick) the only players able to impact the scoreboard in a physical opening term.
Warwick broke away in the second term and took a slender 6-point lead into the long break.
Behind closed doors at half-time, whatever coach Doherty said to his troops worked, because the Swans came out and scored three unanswered goals. Sean Melbin bagged a double and prolific on-baller Riley Easton kicking the first of his two for the afternoon.
The Swannies took a handy 10-point lead into the final change.
4-minutes into the final term Redback’s Patrick Gainey reduced the margin to 2-points and the Reddies were up and about. Easton's second goal shortly followed and the match sealer to Lachlan Town at the 13-minute mark all but secured the Swans victory.
It was a frantic last few minutes with Warwick trying to do whatever it took to get the footy forward. However the Swans held on for a memorable 14-point victory.
Dalby 8.12 (60) defeated Warwick 6.10 (46). Click here for full match details.
