Rising star Chloe MacDonald has led the South Toowoomba Bombers in their 10.13 (73) to 5.5 (35) victory over the Dalby Swans at Heritage Oval on Sunday afternoon.
Both sides went goal for goal in the opening two quarters, with either side unable to break away from the other. However, South Toowoomba were unable to convert numerous shots at goal throughout the first half but took a slender 5-point lead into the long break.
With both teams looking for that edge, it was the red and black who were able to get going.
Chloe MacDonald led the way for South Toowoomba, as the school-girls state representative rebounded off half-back in damaging fashion. MacDonald's ability to break the lines and run and carry was first class and something the Bombers lacked in the first half.
Shaye Easton did her best across half-back for the Swans but was unable to stop the attacking raids of the Bombers.
MacDonald was superb for South Toowoomba and was well supported by dynamic forwards Tamara Polzin and Erin Richardson. The Bombers forward duo combined for 5-goals but it was their defensive pressure that stood out most and worried Dalby.
Along with Easton, Danielle Wall and Alison Gaur were warriors for the Swans all day.
South Toowoomba advance straight through to the AFL Darling Downs Blackchrome Cup women's Grand-Final while Dalby will have to regroup quickly to face Coolaroo this Sunday.
The Swans may have defeated the Bombers in round 18 but it was the Bombers who played an outstanding running game and proved they are premiership favourites. However both sides have injury concerns over several key players.
Swans midfielder Brigid Gaur was in discomfort following the clash with an injured hip, while South Toowoomba will be monitoring key forward Tamara Polzin who injured her knee and also defender Savannah Ranford who had her knee heavily strapped and took a head knock during the third term.
