Benalla and Seymour clash in a possible finals preview at Benalla today.
The Saints sit on top of the ladder with 15 wins and two losses for the season while the Lions are fifth with 11 wins and six losses which would suggest the Saints will win. However, it is not as simple as that because the Lions could arrive at Benalla will all guns loaded if their Assumption College players are allowed to play. This makes a heck of a difference to the Lions side, which is capable of beating any team when they have a full list available.
Saints coach, Wally ARMSTRONG will be well aware of this fact and he will have the Saints finetuned for the battle. On the other hand Matt O’SULLIVAN will be hoping all the AC boys are available.
Mansfield could cause an upset when they take on second placed Euroa at Mansfield. The Pies will not want to take the Eagles lightly because they showed against Seymour they can play some good footy.
Echuca will consolidate their place in the six at third with a win over Rochester while Shepparton United will try hard against Mooroopna at The D but the Cats will hold fourth place on the ladder.
Shepparton Swans and Shepparton will finish their seasons at Princess Park with a tough encounter. Both sides have played some good footy over the season but too many lapses have proved costly and their chances of playing in the finals are gone.
This is especially so because of the fact sixth placed Kyabram plays Tatura who are yet to register a win for the season, while the Bears and the Swans are left knocking on the door. The Bombers like the Swans were right up their early in the season but in the second half their form has fallen away, however, the Bombers do get to play finals and defend their premiership from last season.
Mario de SANTA ANA would be disappointed with the Swans form of late especially after having them go so well early in the season and likewise Tim KELLY would have liked to take the Bears into September.
