Have football will travel.
That’s the story with the latest wildcard rising star nomination for the Mooroopna Golf Club Rising Star Award.
Kyle WINTER IRVING lives in Nagambie, goes to school in Shepparton and plays football for Seymour. The 17-year-old Notre Dame student started his football career with Tabilk Junior Football Club playing in the Seymour District Junior Football League.
He then went to the Nagambie Thirds in the Kyabram and District Football League and last season played in a losing grand final side before joining Seymour Thirds this season.
Kyle said he joined Seymour because he knew Lions Thirds coach, Matthew O’SULLIVAN through Country Week Cricket and because it was only a 15 to 20 minute drive to get to training at Seymour. Good form saw him selected in the GVFL side for the WorkSafe Victorian Country Under 18 Championship which the GVFL won for the third time in a row at Deakin Reserve, Shepparton, against Ballarat back in May.
Playing forward for the Lions, Kyle kicked two goals on Saturday against Mansfield to take his tally for the season to 30.
The field is now complete for the naming of the Rising Star who will be selected within the coming week from the 12 club nominations and the six wildcards.
The winner will be announced at the Morrison Medal count night at the Sir Ian McLennan Centre at Mooroopna on Monday, September 15.
The 18 nominations are 1. Nick SNEYD (United), 2. Rhys McKENZIE (Mooroopna), 3. Patrick O’SULLIVAN (Shepparton), 4. Henry PENI (Swans) 5. Nate TROTTER (Euroa), 6. Kyle MUELLER (Kyabram), 7.
