Bombers prepared for physical contest
Heritage Oval will be the place to be this Sunday, with the two premier women's clubs in the region going head to head in this year’s Blackchrome Cup qualifying final.
Many believe this game is a preview of this year Grand-Final, with both sides the standout teams all season. And this qualifying final won't be anything shy of a blockbuster. Last time these two sides met was only a fortnight ago at Dalby's Owen Street Oval, with the Swans defeating an understrength Bombers outfit to the tune of 42-points.
The Bombers will be set to regain premiership player Jessica Harvey, representative star Isabelle Baldock with 2013 Heather Green Medallist Georgie Seaniger 50/50 at this stage.
Are two players alone, worth 7-goals for South Toowoomba?
Straight to the point answer is yes. Baldock and Harvey will be a welcome addition to the Bombers who were out-classed and weren't physical enough in round 18. Baldock and Harvey are elite in and under players, with Harvey's defensive pressure her number one attribute. Baldock's ability to get in and out of tight situations and break the game open with her blistering pace over 5-10metre first class.
If Seaniger is available, then the Swans will have their hands full.
Dalby will more than likely, field the starting 18 from the last encounter with South Toowoomba. With changes unlikely for the qualifying final.
Joint Heather Green Medallist with Seaniger last season, Danielle Wall is a key to the Swans success; however her ongoing knee injury from the round 18 clash with South Toowoomba is still a worry. Wall's attack of the footy is what lifts the Swannies and if she doesn't play, then the Swans are left without a key player.
Alison Gaur and Shaye Easton will also play a pivotal role for Dalby, with the number one and two goal-kickers respectively in the competition, slicing opposition sides apart. Gaur did the damage in round 18 booting five majors and secured the competitions leading goal-kicking trophy.
South Toowoomba has only lost one game over two seasons and playing this final at home, they start as favourites.
Both sides have good attacking records along with sensational defensive statistics; however both sides play completely different styles of football. Dalby will try to slow the pace of the game down through stoppages and will at every chance make the contest a physical one.
South Toowoomba will take the game on and not in particularly down the corridor. At every opportunity they will use their outside runners and they have quite a few top notch outside runners as well.
