One progresses, the other it is the end of the road
If the reigning premiers are to back to back in the McDonald's Shield, they are going to have to do it the hard way from fourth and up first they have the defensive minded Cougars.
University are ranked number one in the competition for defence. Very strange for a side that finished third overall but proves how competitive the McDonald's Shield has been in season 2014. The Cougars impressive defensive statistic is amazing, over 15 games this season they only let in on average 15points against them per game.
The Roo's have an almighty task going into this match but in their favour is their long list of players with more than 10-goals.
Coolaroo have multiple goal-kickers right across the paddock that includes both key talls and offensive minded midfielders. However, University accounted for the Roo's attacking weapons with a defensive like rolling zone in their round 5 encounter, the only match between these two sides this season.
The Roo's led at the first change but the Cougars began their defensive squeeze on the premiers, with University running out 5.9 (39) to 2.0 (12) victors at Gold Park.
Coolaroo started finals footy last week, where they had to beat the Saints to appear in the official finals this season. They were made to work for their hard fought victory and will be better for it going into this match.
University however will be fresh after the Round 18 bye and a superb win over fellow finalists Toowoomba in round 17.
Both sides will be at full-strength and will everything on the line this should be an epic encounter and one the Roo's will be happy is at their home fortress in Gold Park. There is no next week for the side that is defeated, so it is now or prepare for 2015.

Game Changers
Coolaroo - Thomas Dearnaley: Natural leader on and off field, that does the team things. Leads by examples and his ability to take a contested mark up forward or in defense can change games and lift the rest of his side.
University - Abdullah Haddad: His ability to read the play and run and carry is superb. Another natural leader, that his team-mates look up to. First class foot skills on both sides of his body and can push forward to kick team lifting goals.
