We now look back at the final three games of season 2014 in the Peter Jackson VFL:
Tigers in the finals
Werribee is finals bound after a 25-point win over Frankston.
Werribee started strongly with the first three goals of the game before Frankston found its feet. Addam Maric was the key for the Tigers in the first term with three goals and Josh Porter was damaging to help the visitors to a 20-point quarter time lead.
In the second term Frankston started to find more forward options to get within eight points of the visitors during the quarter, but Werribee led by 15 points at half time
The Tigers showed they were determined to play finals football in the third term with a four goal to one third quarter to jump out to a 37 point lead.
Despite Frankston kicking three goals to one in the final term, the Dolphins were never able to get on a real run, with Tigers locking in sixth spot with a 25 point win.
Addam Maric and Jye Bolton both finished with three goals, with Ben Speight and Jarred Moore each kicking two.
Last kick give Dogs home final
Footscray has claimed a home final and second spot on the ladder with a kick after the siren to defeat Richmond by three points in a thrilling finale to the home and away season for both sides. Fletcher Roberts was the hero, kicking truly from outside50 to give Footscray the win.
Richmond led at every change throughout the afternoon, but a six goal to one final term saw the Bulldogs charge home to claim what looked like an unlikely victory at three quarter time when they trailed by 32 points.
Richmond led by 16 points at quarter time, kicking the first of the game through Liam McBean in his chase for the Frosty Miller Medal.
Richmond found themselves up by 15 point at half time, with two goals each to Cayden Williams and Sam Lloyd in the first half. Richmond had all the answers during the term, despite Footscray getting two in a row for the first time in the match, as Alex Greenwood and Jase Perkins put the Dogs within a point.
With a 20-point three quarter time lead, McBean and Shaun Hampson extended the margin to 32 points early in final term before Footscray started a five goal unanswered run started by captain Nick Lower. Jarrad Grant got the Bulldogs within two points, and they hit the front through a series of behinds. Ross Young gave the Tigers back the lead by four points, and after Jensen missed a shot for the Dogs on the run, it looked all over for Footscray. Enter Roberts. Marking the ball 55 metres out, he coolly kicked the sealer after the siren to give Footscray second spot on the ladder.
Greenwood finished with 26 disposals, Brent Prismall, Jason Tutt and Jordan Russell 23 to be in the best. Tory Dickson and Grant kicked two each, part of 12 individual goal kickers. Lloyd kicked 3 for Richmond, with Williams and McBean kicking two each with Lloyd, Matt McDonough and Ben Helbig among their best.
Positive finish for Lions
Coburg has finished fourteenth with five wins in its first season back as a standalone club, defeating Casey Scorpions today by 17 points. In a close game all afternoon, the Lions kicked away in the final term with four goals to one to finish the season on a high.
After Coburg led early in the game, a five goal run in the second term gave Casey Scorpions the lead by seven points as James Harmes helped clear the ball in the middle, Joe Fisher kicked a couple up forward with captain Evan Panozza also drifted into the forward half for 13 point lead. Coburg quickly replied leading up to half time to draw the scores level.
It was once again an even third term, as neither side could get the advantage. With the home side leading by two points going into the final term, neither team could find the goals early in the last quarter.
It took Coburg 11 minutes in the final term to kick their first, but it started a three goal run that saw the Lions jump out to a 16 point lead. Fisher kicked his third to give Casey a chance but Dion Hill kicked his third to provide the Lions some breathing space and eventually the win.
