Footy Heads, the end is near! Round 12 is upon us and the Top 2 is firm.
The next 3 spots however can go in a few different directions while 6th spot can still make a final change. Will the Roos hold onto their spot? Can the Hawks trouble the Swans and secure their place at third?
Tough to call at this time but time will tell, here are my previews in this final round of the AFL Ontario Home and Away Season for 2014.
Blues v Gargoyles
Both teams would love to have one final win the year in what is basically a game to secure a home final berth. Thinking back to Round 1, the Blues were up and about and knocked off the Gargoyles on their home field which is always a tough thing to do. Since then they`ve had many ups and downs and last week had a serious scare from the Wildcats.
The Gargoyles had a slow start, nearly beat the Hawks when they were at full strength and snagged a win last week to have a chance of now finishing as high as third with a win! It really is a tough game to call and I think it will be a close one.
Phantom Prediction - Gargoyles by 10
Rebels v Eagles
The Eagles basically want this season to end so they can hit the cans and enjoy the finals action from the sidelines. They know they will have no part in it and have known that for a while now even though it was not mathematically decided until recently.
The Rebels are coming into the serious part of the serious and have locked in top spot. They will be looking to finish undefeated in the Home and Away and will no doubt. The scary part of them starts in a few weeks, not against the Eagles.
Phantom Prediction - Rebels by 80
Dingos v Demons
Another two clubs looking for their season to end, there is a tiny tiny spec of light at the end of the Dingo tunnel. A loss to the Roos and they will be in the 6 on percentage - that would be awesome! Maybe not for the Roos but to salvage a finals spot from a rough season would be great for the club.
The Demons have battled for some time now, I am struggling to remember their last win! Lets hope they have some good numbers show up, as we know the Rogers TV cameras will be rolling. No one wants to be embarrassed on TV, especially by the Dingos.... just ask the Blues!
Phantom Prediction - Dingos by 65
Swans v Hawks
At first I thought this would be a nothing game because the Hawks cant finish second anymore after a loss to Grand River last week. But now considering they could finish as low as 5th if they get belted by the Swans, they need to make a decent showing in this game.
The Swans have not really been tested in a while now and have had plenty of easy wins at home. This wont be an easy win, but a win it will be. The Hawks have too much self respect and pride to not go and give it crack but they will not risk and players who are not quite fit just out from the finals.
Phantom Prediction - Swans 40 points
Wildcats v Roos
As much as the whole competition would love to see the Roos get rolled this week by the Wildcats this weekend and miss the finals, its not going to happen. They may be short of numbers and going nowhere in September, but their good players are still good players. They just need some depth.
The Wildcats will be counting the minutes until the final siren so they can hit Rays and commiserate the season of rebuilding. If they can stay switched on they can definitely cause the Roos some problems if they want to But I hear they have a big night planned on good on them, we all know a night on the town in the Hammer is a fun time.
Phantom Prediction - Roos by 30 points
Thats it for this week Footy Heads! Looking forward to seeing some good footy played and for those playing their last game for the season or possibly ever in Canada... Enjoy it! Make it a good one.
