VICTORIA POLICE BLUE RIBBON FOUNTATION SPECIAL DAY AT MOOROOPNA RECREATION RESERVE TOMORROW.
The Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation was established as a result of the murders of young Police Constables Steve TYNAN and Damien EYRE in Walsh Street, South Yarra in 1988.
This wonderful foundation was founded to remember the lives of those who lost their lives in the line of duty.
Damien is the son of Frank and Carmel EYRE who live in Shepparton- Frank himself was a member of the Police Force for over 40 years and is a very well known and respected member of the community.
The Shepparton Branch of the Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation are deeply indebted to the Community, businesses of Shepparton and District and to the Chairman and members of the GOTAFE Goulburn Valley Football League for their continued support of the Blue Ribbon Foundation. With the continued support of the wider community of Shepparton and the GOTAFE GVFL the Shepparton Branch of the Victoria Blue Ribbon Foundation will continue to assist the Goulburn Valley Base Hospitable to become one of the best Regional hospitals in Victoria. The funds raised are used to purchase vital latest state of the art equipment for the hospital.
The Shepparton branch’s largest distinction is the establishment the EYRE/TYNAN Accident and Emergency wing at the Goulburn Valley Base Hospitable in Shepparton.
Prior to today’s game between the Mooroopna Cats and the Shepparton Swans members of the Victoria Police Force, accompanied by the competing teams and officials will show respect and remember their colleagues and friends when they line up in formation prior to the game to observe one minutes silence.
Following each game a specially struck medal will be presented to a player from each team in football and netball and a medal each to the two officiating Central Umpires. A Total of 16 Medals which the foundation trusts each recipient will honor and respect and promote the Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation.
“Police remember all Police members who have lost their life in the line of duty by saving the lives of others”
BIG KIRBS PLAYS HIS 200TH SENIOR GAME FOR TATURA
A star footballer and a top bloke Tatura big man Paul Kirby will be the star attraction at Tatura Park today when he takes the field for what will be his 200th senior game with the Bulldogs.
Already a GVFL Qualified Life Member information received from Tatura President Denis Flett verifies in fact that Saturday’s match against Echuca will be Paul’s 359th senior game when he takes the field against the Echuca Murray Bombers.
Club records at Tatura show that that Paul’s first Season at Tatura was in 2002. Paul played 110 senior games for Tongala and 40 games in the Ovens & Murray football League with Wangaratta Magpies.
Of extreme importance to the Goulburn Valley Football League, however was Paul’s contribution to the League’s WorkSafe Country Championship team and his outstanding displays as a ruckman which in turn encouraged and inspired his team mates to gain the ultimate recognition as number 1 rating in the WorkSafe VCFL.
Have a great day Paul, celebrate with your great teammate Lincoln, the GVFL Board Members and myself have great respect for both of you.
VALE ARTHUR COLE
The recent announcement received from Seymour Secretary Gary Brown that another Seymour Lions led gent in Arthur Cole had passed away brought back fond memories of the many trips to Seymour I have had over my years with he GVFL and the friendly greeting always received from Arthur. Former Seymour President Trevor Gunn recently circularized details of his recent visit to Arthur in Hospitable, it is my pleasure to pass on to all who knew Arthur a few comments from Trevor’s email;
Hi All.
“I had the opportunity to visit Arthur in hospitable on Saturday, in his hospitable room was a “Mounted Football” from the 91 premiership (He purchased it at a club fund raising auction) he and the family intended to gift back to the club in person this Saturday (which Gerald and Browny are aware off) I presume it will make its way to the club at some stage in the future when the family are ready and it will look great in our glass cabinet”
The Chairman, Board Members and all associated with the GOTAFE Goulburn Valley Football League offer their sincere condolences to Arthur’s family and Members of the Seymour Football Club.
