If the region's newest club Chinchilla wins on Saturday afternoon at Kratzke Oval against the Highfields Lions, they are likely to play finals in just their second season.
However, that is easier said then done.
Form
Both sides come into this clash with interesting form lines. The SUNS are coming off a 5 week period that includes two wins (200+) and three losses, two of those by 10 goals and the other a nail-biter against the reigning premier.
Highfields are also coming off a fairly inconsistent 5 week period with a loss last week after their two byes and prior to that, two wins. Those wins were over strong opposition, with the loss against the first placed Cougars.
Form team: Highfields take the honours here with three wins on the trot prior to their round 17 loss to University.

Round 8, 2014 - Chinchilla SUNS 9.15 (69) defeated Highfields Lions 7.12 (54) @ Chinchilla Sports Ground
Stats that matter
Chinchilla are ranked third in the competition in attack, averaging 80.6points per game. Though the SUNS offensive unit will be coming up against the competitions third ranked defense. The Lions average only 55.8points per game against them, setting them among the competitions elite defensive groups.
Final Thoughts
With the match scheduled to be played at Kratzke Oval, this will play into the Lions hands who are hard to beat at the den. The SUNS haven't shined often away from home and this will be one of their biggest tests yet. However if the SUNS trio of consistent stars in Jay Paget, Jye Hartwig and Cameron Percival can line up, these players may just give Chinchilla the boost they need. Representative star Kristian Muir will also be a key in attack for the SUNS.
Highfields have played quite a few veterans in the past week and if the next generation of Lion cubs can shoulder the load then Highfields will be hard to beat. Lions forward Robert Baker has talked the talk numerous times this year and if he can finally walk the walk, he may just cook up a storm and lead Highfields to a maiden finals appearance.
Prediction: Highfields by 7points
In the weekend's other Division 2 match the Dalby Swans will look to secure their finals berth when they come up South Toowoomba at the Swans Owen Street Oval.
With the Bombers list depleted by injuries, this game should go the Swans way and the question is by how much?
