Three quarter time at Kyabram - the Eagles are flying - bottom of the ladder Mansfield are 9 points up over the reigning Premiers. But hang on; Paul NEWMAN has already kicked 6 and they are on their home ground. After 30 minutes of absoulte power Ky have banged on 9 goals 7 behinds while not permitting Mansfield to score. Final score :- Kyabram 18.18 (126) to Mansfield 11.8 (74). Paul NEWMAN kicked 6 of those last quarter goals to take his match tally to an even dozen goals and no doubt earn the best man on ground nod and probably the Morrison Medal votes. Ben FAGAN kicked 4 for the Eagles and was named in their best along with gallant big man Mark JONES. This last quarter effort certainly spells out a big warning to the other premiership contenders.
Premiership favourite Benalla monstered the Shepparton Bears by 112 points after smashing Shepp United the previous week by 63 points. Final score Benalla 25.11 (161) to Shepparton 7.7 (49). Youngster Brodie WEBSTER kicked 3 for the Saints after kicking 10 for Benalla's Under 18's v Shepp United and then another 2 in the Reserves game against the Demons. A little bird has whispered that this young fellow may have thrown in his lot with the Murray Bishrangers to commit to his home club. Nick ALLAN as he always does tried his guts out for the Bears to be named their best player along with most improved ruckman Ash HOLLAND.
Shepparton United are back in 6th possie on the ladder courtesty of their 59 point win over the Echuca Murray Bombers at Deakin Reserve and the fact that Rochester defeated Mooroopna over at Rochy. Echuca were up and about for the first 25 minutes of this game and in fact held an 11 point lead at 1/4 time - 3.3 to 1.4. Come the 6 minute mark of the 2nd quarter Tim LOOBY for the Demons was brilliantly inspirational. In a matter of 5 minutues he had kicked 3 goals to lead his charges into a better frame of mind and go into the half time break leading by 30 points and by 3/4 time lead by 64 points. The Demons eased off in the last quarter which they could live to regret - Echuca banged on 4 goals in the last 5 minutes of the game. United won 18.17 (125) to Echuca 9.12 (66). The Demons were best served by Shaun HUY, Paul CURRIE, David GILLESPIE and reigning Abikhair medalist Tommy SCOTT. Echuca's better players were Simon BUCKLEY, LIam WILKINSON and Mattie POLLOCK.

Euroa Coach Nathan GILLILAND kicked 4 goals and was named his teams best player along with Pat HORSBOROUGH and Craig BAMFORD. The story of the day from Memorial oval is the effort by our Rising Star nominee from the Round 13 games - youngster Robert STAFF kicked a lazy 19 goals against Tat in the Under 18's game which really is a fantastic effort. We must point out however that the Maggies have won 13 of their 15 games whereas Tat are yet to open their account but be that is it may this really is a pretty good day out. Can the young Tat boys rally and get their first win at home to Rochester this week. Good luck lads!!!!
