FOUR ROUNDS TO GO
Still interest in who will fill the fifth & sixth spot, no doubt Benalla, Shepparton Swans, Kyabram and Tatura are safe, the only question involving that foursome is who will finish in second spot and maybe accompany Benalla Saints to Mansfield on Saturday September 6. Shepparton Swans currently holding down second spot play Seymour Lions (Home) Shepparton United (Away) Mooroopna Cats (Away) & Shepparton (Home) While Kyabram Bombers play Mansfield Eagles (Home)Echuca Murray Bombers (Away) Rochester Tigers (Home) & Tatura Bulldogs (Home at Night). On current form can’t see either team dropping a game, maybe the Kyabram Bombers will have a problem with Tatura Bulldogs under lights at the Kyabram Recreation Reserve in the last home and away game. My tip is that 1 & 2 will remain as is.
Who will finish 5th or 6th is also intriguing with Rochester Tigers, Mooroopna Cats, Shepparton United and the Euroa Magpies supporters still hoping for a miracle.
Rochester 5th play Mooroopna Cats (Home) Tatura Bulldogs (Away) Kyabram Bombers (Home) & Echuca (Away) Mooroopna 6th play Rochester Tigers (Away) Shepparton (Home) Shepparton Swans (Home) & Shepparton United (Away) Shepparton United 7th play Echuca Bombers (Home) Shepparton Swans (Home) Shepparton (Deakin Reserve) and Mooroopna Cats (Away) Euroa Magpies 8th play Tatura Bulldogs (Home) Seymour Lions (Away) Benalla Saints (Home) & Mansfield Eagles (Away)
Every team vying for the 5th & 6th positions on the final ladder has a tough assignment ahead in the final four rounds.
RESERVES UMPIRES
Obviously some confusion arose last weekend with regard to Reserves Umpires appointments. The 2014 GVFL Season Handbook distributed to each club Delegate and also mailed directly to all club Secretaries clearly states the following:
That at all times it should be the responsibility of the home club to appoint an experienced umpire to officiate at reserves matches with the visiting club charged with the responsibility of notifying the home club Secretary the previous day of their scheduled match of their intention to also bring an experienced umpire who must umpire in tandem with the home umpire.
PLAYERS QUALIFYING FOR FINAL SERIES
As above all qualification rules are clearly outlined in the GVFL Handbook, however with finals fast approaching recent inquiries have clearly indicated that some club officials have not read the hand book or have had access to it. Please refer to this item:
a.RESERVES A player who has played one or more games with the senior team during the current season must play at least six games in the home and away round of matches of the reserves team to qualify for the reserves finals.
b. In the case of a club fielding a seniors team and a reserves team on the same day or weekend of the finals, the reserves qualification rule does not apply.
PLAYERS THAT HAVE PLAYED VICTORIAN FOOTBALL LEAGUE MATCHES- First year GVFL registered players who play a match with a VFL club must play matches with the GVFL club that they are registered with in at least six rounds to qualify for the GVFL finals. Players in their second or subsequent year of GVFL registration must play four GVFL rounds with their registered club to qualify for the finals. VFL players who are recruited to the GVFL but not registered with a GVFL club are ineligible to play in finals unless they have played six senior games with that club.
Other than TAC Cup players a player having played with the senior team on the Saturday cannot play with the reserves team on the same weekend unless he has qualified during the home & away games.
A player other than rose referred to above shall not be eligible to play in any finals match of the seniors or reserves unless he has played in at least two matches of the home and away matches of the current season.
A player other than those referred to above shall not be eligible to play in any finals matches of the under 18 team unless he has played in At least three matches of the home and away matches of the current season with the club.
Qualifications for finals matches end at the completion of the home and away matches.
