St George
Currently: 1st
The Run Home: BYE, Hills Eagles (H), North Shore (A), Sydney University (A)
Analysis: The premiership favourites in 2014, the Dragons will be very hard to stop in their quest for September glory. Will want to show they are the dominant team in the competition and the Round 17 clash against fellow finalist North Shore could be a good chance to prove it.
Prediction: Will win their remaining three games and finish minor premiers.
UNSW/ES
Currently: 2nd
The Run Home: Pennant Hills (A), North Shore (H), BYE, Hills Eagles (A)
Analysis: Apart from a bad loss to North Shore in Round 12, the Bulldogs have been one of the top sides in the competition. They led the competition up until Round 8 and apart from a couple of losses in the last three rounds, they look to be serious premiership contenders and go one step further than last year. UNSW/ES will want to win their last three matches to take some momentum into September.
Prediction: Will win some close games and finish in second.
North Shore
Currently: 3rd
The Run Home: Hill Eagles (A), UNSW/ES (A), St George (H), Pennant Hills (A)
Analysis: The Bombers have been the story of the season to date after a disappointing 2013 and will be one of the sides to watch in the finals. On their day they can beat anyone and proved this in Round 12 by defeating UNSW/ES by 111 points. Their Round 16 and 17 matches against the top two sides in the competition will provide finals like pressure and give them an indication of where they stand.
Prediction: Tough last three games and can see them losing one or two of these which will result in them finishing fourth.
Manly Warringah
Currently: 4th
The Run Home: Sydney University (A), Pennant Hill (H), Hill Eagles (H), BYE
Analysis: Coming up from the Division Two competition this year, Manly have surprised many with their results, no more than their opening round victory over last years Premiers Pennant Hills. Should win their remaining three games with the bye in Round 18 a chance for all their players to freshen up their bodies.
Prediction: Wins against sides behind them on the ladder will see them climb to third.
Pennant Hills
Currently: 5th
The Run Home: UNSW/ES (H), Manly Warringah (A), Sydney University (H), North Shore (H)
Analysis: The Demons are still mathematically possible of making the finals but will need results to go in their favour. The 2013 Under 18’s premiers got off to a reasonable start to the year but four consecutive losses through the middle of the year will prove costly. Will need to win their four remaining games and for either North Shore or Manly Warringah to lose their remaining games to make the final four.
Prediction: Will need a lot of results go their way to make finals. Fifth.
Below teams are out of contention
Sydney University
Currently: 6th
The Run Home: Manly Warringah (H), BYE, Pennant Hills (A), St George (H)
Prediction: Will want to avoid the wooden spoon and they will by finishing sixth.
Sydney Hills Eagles
Currently: 7th
The Run Home: North Shore (H), St George (A), Manly Warringah (A), UNSW/ES (H)
Prediction: Can’t see them winning anymore games and will finish last.
