Harristown State High School teacher Mr. Tom Marshall has been announced as the 2014 AFL Queensland Coles School Ambassador of the Year, for secondary schools.
Marshall has been an Ambassador since 2009, with his tireless efforts over a six year period rewarded at the AFL Queensland School Ambassador function at the GABBA before QClash 8 between the Brisbane Lions and Gold Coast SUNS.
Tom a very passionate Richmond supporter, has been doing the hard yards at Harristown SHS traditionally known for producing national rugby league players and boasting a high quality soccer/volley ball program.
2014 has been a year of change at Harristown State High School, with the largest Toowoomba secondary school heavily involved in many AFLQ Darling Downs school programs.
From competitions to carnivals, the blue and white school has just about participated in everything available in 2014. Harristown also boasts one of only two full-time Australian Rules ovals in the region.
Tom is known for line-marking the oval himself, so that our great game continues to have a presence for 12-months of the year. Tom has also ventured into AFLQ development programs, managing and implementing talent programs such as the regions Summer Training program and Brisbane Lions academy.
After six years of helping develop Australian Football in the region, Tom was announced as the State winner and receives an all-expenses paid trip for two to week one of the Toyota AFL Finals series along with the title of Queensland's number one secondary school ambassador.
