Toowoomba based students experienced the final event in their 2014 MS program when they attended Q-Clash 8 on Saturday afternoon.
A group of 30 students, parents and teachers made their way down to the Gabba as the concluding event of this year’s highly successful Multicultural School Program run at Holy Name, St Saviours’ and Darling Heights schools.
Close to 200 students experienced the 6 week program run at their schools that comprised a mix of fan development and skills training and concluded with the inaugural carnival day held at University AFC.
Regional Manager Keith Webb believes the mix of fan development and skills training allowed all students to get a greater buy in to the program.
"The sessions were run slightly different to programs we have delivered at schools across the Downs in the past with a mixture of in class (fan development) and field based activities. This allowed all students to not only develop their skills but also attain a greater understand of the background of the game and really engage with the clubs and players at the top level," said Webb.
"I see this format as the way forward regarding the delivery of our in-school coaching sessions".
Those who attended the Lions Vs Suns game also had the opportunity to meet and engage with Lions players Brent Moloney, Matthew Leuenberger and Jordan Bourke at the half time interval.
Overall the program was a great success and will look to expand to include more schools in 2015+
