No tipster nightmares as the top trio win. Finals are not far off now so teams are thinking ahead.
Bulldog's on a coastal tour this week, and took the points after a torrid encounter with the improving Roosters. Only three goals in the match at three quarter time, the final quarter opening up to see the Centrals boys piling on six goals to nil sealing their victory. Matthew Williams followed up his last weeks best player form with another one this week for the Roosters, coach Chad Fleming will be very pleased with the form of Ben Hurrell in key forward posts. The Bulldogs shared the load well, with most contributing. Jake Bruce pulled down two speccies from the sky, both in the goal square, finishing the game with five goals. Lachlan Heath had the ball on a string, and he will be a key with finals looming. Coach Wade O Brien is very much keeping a lid on the clubs prospects, but looking in from outside, the Bulldogs are travelling very much on course. Ty McKenna and Jake Sampson should be back for the derby next week at Wudinna Oval.
The Hawks rebounded savagly this week with a twenty odd goal win over neighbours, the Bombers, at Piednippie Oval Huge ins for the Hawks included Dilon/ Tyson Montgomerie and Brent Bascombe, and the blue and golds were in no mercy mood as they now contemplate their last few games before the finals. Wirrulla missed several key players, but now must regroup immediately. A confident Rooster outfit is dropping in on them next weekend to settle the dispute for the last finals berth, what a match this one promises to be. The Bombers will be hoping that captain Jarden Steotzer is back to full (or even part) fitness, along with Andrew Bitmead. For the Hawks, five goals each to Jake Mc Evoy and Corey Cabot.
Western Districts turned up to play big time, with a 106 point belting of Wudinna United. The margin is probably less significant than the fact that the Tigers kicked 24 goals, finding systems and plays that resulted in goals, lots and lots of them. Recent successes for the Districts boys have been more dour affairs with strong defence the key, but they need to find the goals more if they are going to challenge the two ladder leaders. Scotty Feltus good again as a player, but will also be very pleased as a coach too. Braydn Hedley King back in great form, his run extremely important, and Shannon Horgan keeps on keeping on, four goals and a swag of the ball all day. Magpies endured a hard day at the office, but gave some colts age players some valuable senior experience. Derek Williams leading the best, along with everegreen Mark North. Matthew Greatbatch continues his fine season, which must see him travelling well in club best and fairest stakes.
