Perth in seventh heaven
Report by Kalon Harrison
High-flying Perth SC were buoyed by the return of striker Ash Rosindale, who netted in his first game back from injury in a 7-0 rout of Armadale at Dorrien Gardens yesterday.
Rosindale, who had been out for five weeks with a hamstring injury, was joined on the score sheet by strike partners Mark Doninger, who grabbed a brace to make it 10 goals in six games, Mark Pritchard, Adrian Caceres, Andreas Theodosiades and Aden Da Luz.
Perth coach Taki Nicolaidis had wanted his team to make a statement and they delivered with a convincing team performance.
“I think the result showed that,” he said. “It’s healthy to have the competitiveness in the squad but also to see players playing for the team.
“Our strikers are looking to play each other in and the selflessness is really good to see.”
The home side opened the scoring in the fourth minute through Pritchard after he collected the ball from a poor headed clearance just inside the area and slotted into the bottom corner.
Rosindale scored in the 21st minute and Andreas Theodosiades added the third in the 42nd minute after playing a smart wall pass with James Marocchi to get in behind the visitors’ defence.
Da Luz made it four on the stroke of half-time with a simple tap in and Doninger got his first nine minutes into the second half with a smashing strike.
Rosindale was replaced by Caceres and he found the net in the 81st minute before Doninger completed his brace in stoppage time.
Armadale coach Lee Bamber was coy on his side’s performance and felt it needed little comment.
“The result says it all,” he said.
The result leaves Perth in second place, five points behind Bayswater City, and five points clear of third-placed Balcatta.
Armadale remain bottom.
