What a round of matches in today’s thirds.
Reigning premiers Kyabram, who are sitting fourth on the ladder at 8-4 take on second placed Benalla at 10-2. This could well be a finals match in the future and a win for both sides is a must, especially for the Bombers at home. When these sides met on May 31, the Saints won by 32 points and they will be looking for another four points today. Charlie MORRISON continues to boot goals for the Saints and heads the league’s leading goal kicking with 36 for the season.
Echuca and Euroa is another thriller on the banks of the Murray River. The Magpies are flying high at 11-1 and the Murray Bombers at 8-4 will want to win and consolidate third place in the six. The last time these two sides met, the Magpies got up by 12 points and the Murray Bombers will be hoping to reverse that result at home.
Seymour and Mooroopna is another game vital to both sides. The Cats are fifth at 7-5 and the Lions seventh at 7-5 with percentage separating them. Those four points today are once again of vital importance to both sides and a battle royal should be seen at Seymour. When they last met on June 21, the Cats had a runaway win and they will be hoping for a similar result today.
Shepparton Swans are sixth at 7-5 and will be looking for another big win against Rochester who are 1-11. The Swans had a percentage booster against Tatura on Saturday and another big win should come their way today.
The Bulldogs Liam BORRELLI is leading the Sherrin Award with 21 votes from Matthew CORDY of United with 20 and another three votes today will seen Liam keep pressure on at the head of the pack.
Mansfield are home to Shepparton and this should be another exciting game with both sides keen to play finals. Shepparton are eighth at 6-6 and Mansfield ninth at 5-7. The last time they met on June 28, the Eagles won by 16 points and they will be keen to get the points again.
In the final match of the round Shepparton United are home to Tatura which should allow the Demons to put another win on the board while the Bulldogs continue to struggle. Hang in the Bulldogs there are better days ahead.
