FNQ FC Heat have confirmed the signing of former Hyundai A-League star Zenon Caravella for the remainder of the NPL Queensland season.
Caravella, 31, originally hails from Cairns and is expected to make his debut for Heat in their home clash with Sunshine Coast Fire this Saturday at Barlow Park.
The midfielder made 127 Hyundai A-League appearances with four clubs over six seasons, with stints at New Zealand Knights, Gold Coast United, Adelaide United and last season with Newcastle Jets.
He becomes the second former Hyundai A-League player at Heat this season, joining former Wellington Phoenix player Alex Smith in the Heat midfield.
Caravella’s experience will boost a Heat side scheduled to play seven games in the next five weeks – including the club’s Westfield FFA Cup tie against Sydney United 58 on August 12 in Sydney.
Heat are currently sixth in the NPL Queensland standings, two points outside the competition's top four finals places.
