Sean Martin is one of the Bulldog pups the tricolours will be hoping can take them to premiership honours this season.
The 18-year-old dairy farm hand is currently having a gap year while developing his senior football, which he started last season with three senior games and an appearance with the Bulldogs in the elimination final which they lost to the Swans.
Educated at Mooroopna Secondary College and raised by his grandparents, Ian and Kathy Martin at Tatura, he played in an under 16 premiership side and was an equal top age best and fairest winner in 2011 with United’s Beau Caia in the Shepparton District Junior Football League Under 16 Division 2.
Sean started his football with Tatura juniors in the SDJFL back in 2008 and last season played in the GVFL side which defended their state championship at Geelong.
He polled 13 votes in the Pattison Medal for the best and fairest player in the GVFL Thirds and then went onto to play four senior games with the Bulldogs and that experience has stood him in good stead this season.
After this year, Sean hopes to go to university and do a sports science degree, in the meantime his eyes are on a premiership flag with the Bulldogs.
Other rising star nominations at this stage are Nick Sneyd (United), Rhys McKenzie (Mooroopna), Patrick O’Sullivan (Shepparton), Henry Peni (Swans), Nate Trotter (Euroa), Richard Tonizzo (Echuca), Billy Cox (Seymour), Kyle Mueller (Kyabram), Charlie Morrison (Benalla), Matt Palmer (Rochester), Lachie Christopher (Mansfield).
