Beards the rage at Nor-West
In a recent Diatribe, we made mention of Nor-West raising money for the Beards of Hope charity. The Jets dream was $5,000 but now they have well and truly exceeded that with $20,000 raised and over 60 guys growing beards. Bravo!
First for The Recruit
Danny had his first sneak peek of the first episode of the new FOX8 series of The Recruit. There will be some familiar faces to those in Sydney amongst the top 50 players who feature in the first episode that will premiere on Wednesday at 7:30pm. Needless to say, it is an entertaining and must-see episode. More to come...
Wests fellas mixing up their priorities mid-season
They may have won an important match against St George but there has been some questions asked about the form of some off the field.
Among the news Danny has received includes;
- Yanni Milligan-Saville didn't attend a Wests training session, instead he was spotted holding hands with his girlfriend on the 'bay run'. Matt Lemme was distraught at this and that his man crush wasn't at training.
- Marcus Linsen had the 'flu' a few weeks back, however, was seen having a heated argument out the front of his home. This was with someone he describes as a 'stage 5 clinger' that he has no real interest in! Sounds pretty murky from our end, Marcus, seems as though you love a bit of 'salt n pepper'!
Further to this, the Magpies had their annual Winter Ball last weekend. ‘D News’ has heard the following happened on the night;
- Matt Round was seen sneaking off with his girlfriend near the red carpet entry countless times, whilst also being caught talking to his child
- Marcus Linsen also struggled to be spotted, sneaking off to the TAB to put money on Jimmy Anderson to reach three figures in the England test match and telling club patrons about his attempted hanger on Rod Craig. Both players missed the all important, unofficial club song, Daryl Braithwaite's, Horses.
- It has also been reported that few are struggling to forget senior coach, Kevin Eynaud’s performance on the dancefloor Saturday night. Word is he was busting some moves that have never been seen before
Gulden making every post a winner
It is always good to see a former Sydney player make the most of an opportunity at a higher level. If you haven’t done so already, have a squiz at the article on former Bulldog and Podbury Medallist, Adam Gulden and his success in the SANFL. Well done Adam.
Comeback for Mrs Brown’s boy
You also have to love a good comeback and after two-and-a-half years and a bad run of injuries, Matt Brown (Moorebank) finally got a start in first grade, and kicked a goal to go along with it. The boys have said he might be Blake Pearce’s new man crush, if Blake can get over loving himself.
Lego Man has a day out
Pennant Hills youngster, Tom Edmonds had a good day at the office kicking three goals out of the middle in the Premier Division clash against UTS. But is it getting to his head? Word is he expects to be on the cover of the AFL Sydney Football Record after being named in the best and has been calling himself the "T Train" at training this week.
Mann reaches a Magic Record
Josh Mann became the first player at the Blacktown Magic to hit 50 games. He was in doubt to get there first after breaking his toe stubbing it in the gutter at BISP (Blacktown) 2. He claims it counts as a stat. Settle down Josh!
Who will be top of the pops?
We are reaching the finale of the 20 to 1 best current day players in the AFL Sydney competition. There was an emergency meeting in the AFL Sydney bunker/war room this week as we had to re-calculate our top five due to form. Needless to say the top sides will be rewarded as we reach the point end of this count.
If you don’t agree, a reminder you will have the opportunity to have your say in our survey where you can choose who you think is the best current-day player in the competition. Keep your eyes peeled.
