The finals may still be 7 weeks away but round 13 of the AFLDD women's Blackchrome Cup shapes as an important round for every side positioned 3rd to 6th.
With the top 2 sides South Toowoomba and Dalby enjoying a weekend off, the rest of the competition will be playing catch up, with the Roo's trying to sneak back into the Top 2 and the Demons trying to keep their finals hopes alive.
Twilight showdown
In the Blackchrome Cup match of the round, Coolaroo host Goondiwindi at Gold Park in the blockbuster twilight fixture.
Both sides are coming into this game with losses to the same opposition, as the Swans defeated by sides by 10-goals but it is the Roo's who will be coming in fresher after two competition byes to reset their attack on a debut finals appearance.
Though the Hawks wouldn't be too concerned by the fresh Roo's and no doubt would be happy to have played only last week not 3 weeks ago.
Carrie Daley and Jade Hose have been the leading navy Roo's in their sides maiden season thus far and the Hawks will need to nullify one of the dynamic duo if they are to come away from Gold Park with the all-important four premiership points.
Wendy Litherland and Rochelle Ellison along with Jessica Bell play pivotal roles and are the keys to Goondiwindi's chances.
However it may be the 'x factor' of Beth McLaughlin that the Hawks may just need to upset their fancied opponent. McLaughlin however has only managed 2 games but the Roo's would remember the classy Hawk from their last outing against each other when the two clubs played out a draw in Pittsworth.
McLaughlin was arguable best on ground and will have to feature in the Heather Green Medal voting later in the year for this match.
If the Roo's can record their fifth win of the season, it will be enough for them to reclaim second spot on the ladder. A loss to the Hawks could see them slip out of finals contentions and have to climb an almighty mountain to get back into the Blackchrome Cup top 4.
Dee's looking to ignite charge on top 4
Lockyer Valley will travel to Reddies Oval to face Warwick in a game that only one result matters, and that is win.
It has been a tough year for injuries for the 2013 grand-finalists but the Demons ladies have fought hard all season with star players Brooke Creighton, Monqiue Gould and Kylie Edmonstone stepping up in tough times.
Creighton and Gould are very similar in the way they play and give the Demons a lot of drive out of the middle. Edmonstone on the other hand is the link or go to player for Lockyer Valley and sets up the Demons structures and attacking raids from behind the footy.
If the Reddies are to win they need to watch this impressive trio.
For the Redback's the Cullen sisters in Cassie and Danielle have stood out as the go to players. The Cullen duo brings a lot of energy and read the play well, with fullback Delma Phyland adding to the class as possibly the best full-back in the competition.
What Warwick are lacking is a key forward who can kick goals and impact the game at a consistent level.
