Saturday Morning Blockbuster
The first placed University Cougars will be looking for their 12th straight victory as they host the in-form Swannies at Baker Street on Saturday morning.
Dalby were tested last week in a tough contest against the Demons but prevailed by 13-points to sit 2-points clear in third place on the McDonald's Trophy ladder. The Cougars however are coming off a big win over Goondiwindi on the road.
Both sides will be fresh after the weekend off for the school holiday break but will be ready to ramp up preparations towards their likely finals campaigns.
Ben Matthews and Zimmorlei Farquharson are the two key contributors for the Swans and will play a pivotal role in this blockbuster. Matthews has played a superb defensive, quarterback type role this season, setting up a lot of the Swans forwards thrusts.
Farquharson has used her lightning pace through the midfield but has played more of a half-forward role and has proven to be the number Swan in front of the sticks.
The much talked about Cougar in Callum Banim is the driving force behind the 11 - 0 start for the University side. Banim isn't the only danger player; the Swans will need to watch the dynamic duo that is the Makauch brothers along with Brodie Speed.
This quartet of stars has torn opposition sides apart all season and the Swannies will need to be accountable.
An area where the Cougars haven't been tested just yet is down back, their defensive 6 have really been tested all season. An amazing statistic they average only 4-points a game against them, opposition teams just can't breach the protective unit.
Last time these sides met, a 5 goal third quarter blitz saw the game ripped out of Swans hands with Nyok Kag booting 4 in the low scoring encounter.
