U17 National Champs starts this week
Beginning this Wednesday July 9th, Harbour Basketball will host the 2014 Under 17 National Championships.
Due to unfortunate scheduling Harbour A Boys will be without four of their key players, away in Australia with the New Zealand Under 16 team. However coach Kenny Stone still thinks his team can challenge for the title.
The Girls A team, coached by Jody Cameron is based largely around the successful Westlake Girls High School team. Like the boys they will be expecting to feature strongly in post pool play competition, perhaps even going one better than the runners-up place achieved in 2013.
Both the Girls and Boys B teams will be playing in the tournament. Both Girls coach Lana Wolf and Boys coach John Nunnington will be happy to see their team take a couple of ‘scalps’ during the four day tournament.
