Lockyer Valley will be looking to the foreign time-slot of 7:30pm on a Friday night to record their first win of the Allied Pickford's Cup Division 1 season.
In the Demons short history they have never played under lights and this time change may be just what Lockyer Valley need to ignite their campaign. The Demons may be quietly confident as the Bombers are the club they have looked most likely to defeat this season.
Coming within 49-points in round 5 might not look like a close contest to those not at Cahill Park but to those in attendance it was a huge step forward in the development of the young club.
South Toowoomba are also the only Toowoomba side the Demons have defeated in their history, it may have been back in 2011 and only a pre-season game but the men in the Lockyer Valley can take confidence from this historic victory.
This round 12 clash under lights looms as a massive game for South Toowoomba with the red and black sliding out of the top 4 after their 4-goal defeat at the hands of the Roo's. Be at under-strength the Bombers will be looking to the next month as season defining games.
Missing the likes of Dan McPhee, Jeff Neumann, Shaun Montgomery and co, the Bombers will no doubt welcome back part of that trio and looking to get back on the winners list.
In their last 5 outings the Bombers have only two matches, where they upset the table topping Redback's but other than that the red and black have been fairly inconsistent.
Demons trio of Mick Wein, Sam Hegarty and Harley Hicks are the keys if Lockyer Valley are to defeat South Toowoomba.
Hicks is in a purple patch of form which includes a best on performance against the Cougars in June with Hegarty and Wein rounding a dynamic trio. What the Demons lack is a key forward who can kick goals and this week may just be the week for a star forward to stand up.
The Bombers have been quite unsettled down back in recent weeks and this may be the Dee's chance to unleash a future star.
For South Toowoomba, midfielder Lorenzo and Neumann are keys to the Bombers drive along with veterans Webb, Kratzmann (brothers) and Captain Ben Newman. If the Demons can nullify the impact these players have on the game, then that will open the door for the upset of the season.
Any interesting game scheduled for the neutral venue of USQ AFC from 7:30pm, the chilly forecast of 11 degrees and clear skies will no doubt set up an interesting contest.
