Footifying Greygums
Danny has a phobia of cameras and prefers to be somewhat of a silent assassin so you won’t see me at Greygums on Saturday for the Penrith v Holroyd-Parramatta Division Five match where the next instalment of the NAB Footify advertisements will be filmed.
The NAB 'Footify' Campaign will create 5 x web films and 1 x 30 second TV commercial that sees five international passionate sports fans from around the world, come to Australia and be partnered up with an AFL footy fan host family, immersing them into local footy communities to inspire and 'footify' them.
Jason Bond and his family are playing host to one of these international sports fans.
It appears the news of the camera’s at Gipps Road on Penrith have been enough for Home and Away star, Johnny Ruffo to join the club after he transferred this week from St George to the Rams.
Body doubles
We love a good look-a-like and it appears a couple of the Western Suburbs boys have body doubles.
A few of the boys reckon Peter Maxwell looks like Ellen DeGeneres.
Poor Yannick Milligan-Saville must have a target on his back and has to obviously keep an eye on his Snapchats after an unnamed source sent in a screenshot of him before getting a haircut because he reckoned he looked too much like his girlfriend.
"Kettly" catches on for Clarke
Danny has it on good authority that Southern Power’s James Clarke has taken drinking out of an accessory to the next level. Staying the night with a number of teammates in Wollongong after the Power’s match with Illawarra, with no shoe available for a "shoey", James not wanting to drinking out of a boot, decided to pour his liquid (not hot water) into a kettle and drank it straight from there. It was a definite improvement from his below-par efforts post the Development Squad v Riverina match last year.
Helicopter landing
There was a rare occurrence in the North Shore v Pennant Hills Premier Division clash at Gore Hill Oval last week. With Royal North Shore hospital up the road and a emergency helicopter loaded with a rugby union player suffering a suspected spinal injury circling up above, police brang a halt to the match to use the centre as a landing zone for the helicopter. With Pennant Hills enjoying a sizeable lead, all parties decided to end the match there and then given the lengthy delay (although one North Shore star was heard questioning whether the result would be a draw).
Winner winner, Chicken Dinner
Entering the final throngs of the AFL regular season, it is worth making a mention of the AFL Sydney Community Dream Team league. Currently atop is Southern Power’s Ryan Murphy with his side "Chicken Dinner". He has been known to follow the DT chat sites religiously with his side having a striking similarity to The Traders team on the AFL website. There are eight sides within 1000 points of Ryan including two Burkinshaw’s and a Flying Frenchman so Ryan better keep his eyes peeled.
No deal for Demir
It was a disappointing weekend for St George’s Shane Demir after he not only bailed out on a night out in Bondi he had pre-organised a month in advance, but he bailed on it to leave the first grade clash half-way through to go home.
Spotted
Hayden 'Decoy' Washington was spotted on the prowl on the weekend as evidenced by this photo. Team mates noted he was more menacing this night than on the field against Sydney University.
