Footy Heads! Another big round of footy is coming our way and I can safely say I am excited about it.
The weekend has some big games and some TV coverage to boot, so expect to see everyone out and pushing for the much needed 4 points. Here are my #AFLOrd5 predictions!
Roos v Rebels
The Rebels have just come off a big win over the Hawks and now we will find out who will remain undefeated after 5 rounds of AFLO action. The Roos are flying early in the season but their only real test has been against the Demons in a game they probably should have lost.
All I have been hearing about the Roos is that they have too few players and rely on even less while the Rebels are said to have some of the biggest numbers in the comp this season. This top of the table tilt will be a beauty and I for one will be there in my purple suit with bells on.
Big test for the front running Roos but I think the Rebels may have turned the corner and moved off the radar!
Phantom Prediction - Rebels 25 points
Dingos v Eagles
This game features two sides that are both desperate to get another win on the board. The Eagles are coming off their first win of the season which with some straighter kicking could have been better. The Dingos are missing Big Wade up front and have struggled to put scores on the board as they limped thru the first 4 rounds of the year.
Really this is anyone's game and will come down to who has their best players available. The two old rivals both need a win to keep the season alive and while I think the Eagles are not much of a chance this season, the Dingos must win this or theirs could be down the drain.
Phantom Prediction - Dingos 15 points
Hawks v Demons
Coming off their first loss of the season, the Hawks will be keen to bounce back and get back into the winners circle as quickly as possible. While I have received some private messages about Dullard being on holiday and the Hawks in trouble, I don't see that being an issue. There is just too much depth in their line up to rely on one guy, especially with Killa being the new Dullard.
The Demons will definitely come out firing after a heated loss to the Roos in #AFLOrd4. They are showing strong early form and while only 2-2 are looking like going well into September having. This week will be key to that and they should not be written off until the final siren. If this wasn't at U of T, I may even consider picking them.
Phantom Prediction - Hawks 10 points
Blues v Wildcats
A big game for both sides and with Rogers TV coming out to film, I expect numbers to be solid for both. The Wildcats are ever improving and so long as they keep working and getting numbers out, will find a win this year. It isn't far away but this week may not be it as the Blues really need a win to get their season back on track after losing 3 in a row.
The loss to the Swans was not pretty and apparently has had casualties as Daws is set to miss the next few games while with Willsy is currently "away" - whatever that means. The Doc is in back to back B&F form and leading the sides assaults on all fronts, a little bit of back up and the Blues may win a couple of games!
Phantom Prediction - Blues
Swans v Gargoyles
Thanks to my Twitter fans, I have been informed this game is now to be played in Toronto on June 28 instead of its traditional RCR. The Swans now have to travel to the big city for the game and while they're currently 1-0 on the road, facing a much tougher opposition this time around. The Gargoyles have been a little unlucky with an opening round loss to the Blues and a 4 point defeat from the claws of the Hawks providing them a slow start to the season.
This game is very important for both sides in the hunt for September and I expect nothing less than a hard hitting affair. Dyer was missing from the Gargoyles last week but should be back for this one which will provide a lot of trouble for the Swans defence along with Logel and Matthews. The question is how strong their defence is, because the Swans have shown they can kick big scores and win games!
Phantom Prediction - Gargoyles 17 points
Womens
Blues v Wildcats
To say the Blues are hungry for a win is an understatement. They haven't tasted the sweetness of Victory in too long now and with the television cameras out will be primed for a big game. They are much improved this season and with Bodashefsky in the line up will take it to the Wildcats. But can the Blues Steel a win? Get it? Maybe.
The Wildcats haven't consistently had their best players available for whatever reason, but continue to show promise this year. If their best team comes to town, they can roll with the punches and deliver some serious blows if they kick straight. Question is who will show? This will be a tough contest from start to finish and I can't wait for the outcome.
Phantom Prediction - Blues by 1 point
