This top six clash will be a massive game for both sides - Sandringham and Williamstown - as we enter the second half of the season. The Zebras edged out the Seagulls last year and this should be an enthralling contest at the windy Burbank Oval, as Nick Ciantar previews the match.
Sandringham snapped a three game losing streak by defeating Collingwood by 44-points on Saturday to get their season back on track.
A host of St Kilda players shined in the big win with Tom Curren (30 disposals), Sam Dunell (four goals) and Shane Savage (30 disposals) all impressing.
Williamstown were defeated by reigning premiers Box Hill Hawks on Sunday, with the Hawks kicking six goals to one in the last quarter to win by 21 points. Scott Clouston kicked three goals for the Seagulls while Ben Davies and Nick Meese were named in the best.
Sandringham has been boosted with the return of St Kilda defender Sam Fisher.
Fisher successfully returned from a hamstring injury last week in the Development Squad and replaces James Gwilt who returns to the AFL.
Josh Bruce also returns to full back, while Peter Shakallis and James Munro will have defensive duties on the highly fancied Kane Lambert and Jack Johnstone.
The Zebras will field arguably their best midfield line up for the season with many St Kilda players returning from injury. Tom Hickey will play in the ruck and his rovers will be Adam Cockie and Tom Curren.
Josh Saunders and Daniel Markworth will take up wing positions, while Myke Cook and Yilber Zijai will give polish to the Zebras’ steam room.
The Seagulls won’t be short in this area, as they have experienced midfielders Ben Jolley and Ed Carr, both of whom will be supported by big ruckman Meese.
Sandringham will field a tall forward line against Williamstown, similar to the one that out-muscled the Pies.
Dunell is possible to miss after being selected on an extended bench by St Kilda, but classy small forward Adam Schneider and big-man Spencer White return from injuries.
Rhys Stanley and Beau Maister will look to continue their partnership, while Arryn Siposs will give the forward line some much-needed firepower.
Williamstown defenders Jack Charleston, Peter Faulks and Brad Mangan will battle against seasoned AFL players, but the Gulls have the eighth best defence in the league; even with an extra game played.
