With the ever-increasing growth of women’s fitness and with over two million Australian women participating in organised club sport (Australian Bureau of Statistics); the Wollongong Saints AFL Club is celebrating this Saturday (21st June) women’s participation in club sport and also their 5th birthday celebration.
Since its establishment the Wollongong Saints have had over 75 members, from a variety of age groups and a diverse assortment of ethnicity.
This weekend is a celebration of all past and present club members, but also a celebration of the bright future the club has ahead.
This weekend’s home game will be a top of the table clash with Southern Power (Sutherland). The Wollongong Saints players are fired up and ready to take the status of top spot from the reins of Southern Power.
The game will be held at Northern Dalton Park, with ball-up at 2pm. Followed by Saints affiliated men’s team, the Illawarra Lions game at 4pm. Dinner and presentations will proceed in the club rooms and the Saints welcome all past and present players as well as all members of the public to join in the celebrations.
