WARWICK's AFL Darling Downs campaign is in freefall after slumping to a 15 (69) to 2.9 (21) defeat at the hands of South Toowoomba on Saturday night.
The Redbacks won their first seven straight but they have now lost two on the trot against the in-form Bombers.
It was a sloppy opening term at Heritage Oval on Saturday, with the Redbacks snatching a narrow one-point lead 1.3 (9) to 1.2 (8).
The second quarter proved more conducive to attacking football as Souths pushed ahead by seven points 4.3 (27) to 2.8 (20) at the main break.
Both sides were forced to reshuffle their line-ups when Warwick midfielder Brendan Iles and Souths forward Dan McPhee went down with injuries.
But it was the Bombers who handled it better, with Warwick kicking just one minor score in the second half.
The Redbacks have now slipped to second on the ladder with University taking top spot following its 27.24 (186) to 0.0 (2) victory over Lockyer Valley.
Heath Gniel (five goals) led the charge for the Cougars who kept Lockyer Valley scoreless in the second half.
In the weekend's other results, a seven-goal haul to Adam Green inspired Coolaroo to a 13.9 (87) to 10.10 (70) win over a tenacious Highfields outfit.
And Goondiwindi boosted its top-four hopes with a resounding 18.12 (120) to 5.3 (33) victory over the Tigers.
