Weston welcome Broadmeadow magic to Rockwell Automation Park on Sunday afternoon in the round eleven match of the round. 

Weston enter the round in sixth place on twelve points, following a trio of wins, losses, and draws from their opening nine games.  

Magic begin round eleven in fourth after five wins, a draw and four losses, on sixteen points, equal with second and third placed Edgeworth and Hamilton.  

Weston will be desperate to return to winning ways this weekend against Broadmeadow, and in the process close the gap between themselves and the top five. After four rounds they led the competition, however have since drawn two and lost three in a five match winless streak. 

Broadmeadow continued their climb up the NPL ladder after a 3-0 win over Adamstown last weekend, entering the top four for the first time this season. A Scott Pettit double and a third to Rhys Tippett secured the three points for the Magic.  

The 3-0 win was their third in four matches, and they have certainly appeared to have found their feet after a slow start to the 2014 campaign. 

Losing defender Ben Higgins, who is in Brazil for the World Cup, hasn’t seemed to have affected the Broadmeadow side. Jon Griffiths and Josh Piddington were solid at the back throughout the win over Adamstown, limiting the Rosebuds to few threatening shots on target. 

The last time the two sides met neither could break the deadlock at Magic Park. That was back in round two, and since then, Broadmeadow have registered fifteen goals, and Weston twelve. Their return fixture promises to both produce goals, as well as an extremely entertaining match of the round.

Adamstown Rosebud FC vs. Newcastle Jets Youth

In the opening match of round eleven of the National Premier Leagues Adamstown Rosebud host the Newcastle Jets Youth at Adamstown Oval. 

Adamstown enter the round in second last on ten points following three wins, a draw, and six losses. 

The Newcastle Jets Youth are in a much better position, leading the competition at the half way mark of the season. They have won five, drawn two and lost two on their way to seventeen points.  

Adamstown competed in the only match of round ten, losing 3-0 to Broadmeadow at Magic Park. They were limited to very few chances throughout the match, and rarely threatened Broadmeadow keeper Chris Bowling.  

Matt Comerford was a standout for the Rosebuds, as he used his lightning pace and quality ball skills to create most of the Rosebud’s opportunities.

The Newcastle Jets Youth have rapidly improved this year after finishing the 2013 season in ninth. Attacking quartet Brandon Lundy, Radovan Pavicevic, Beau McDonald and Mike Finlayson have all been quality so far this season, and each pose an extremely large threat every time they step out onto the pitch. 

After winning just one of their last five games Adamstown will be intent on gaining another three points as they begin the second half of their season, however they will need to bring their best game to Adamstown Oval if they are any chance against an in-form Newcastle Jets Youth side.  

Lambton Jaffas FC vs. Lake Macquarie City FC

The second game of round eleven sees Lambton Jaffas host Lake Macquarie City at Arthur Edden Oval.  

Lambton begin the round in fifth place on fourteen points after four wins, two draws and three losses. They trail fourth placed Broadmeadow by only two points, however they have a game in hand. 

One win, two draws and six losses leave Lake Macquarie stranded in last position on just five points, five behind Adamstown who sit in ninth.  

Lambton are currently in a hot run of form. In round five the Jaffas were in eighth place on four points. Just four rounds later they found themselves in fourth following three wins and a draw. Their match last weekend was washed out, however they will be looking to rediscover that momentum this weekend.  

With half the season played it is beginning to shape up as a now or never situation for Lake Macquarie. With just nine matches left they sit nine points outside the top five, and they will be aware that they need to record their second win of the season as soon as possible. 

A John Majurovski double combined with a Kale Bradbury finish gave the Jaffas a 3-0 win the last time the two sides met. They will be hoping for a repeat performance of that day this weekend, whilst Lake Macquarie will be intent on turning things around. 

Hamilton Olympic welcome Charlestown City Blues to Darling Street Oval for the fourth match of the round.  

Hamilton has won four, drawn four and lost only once on their way to sixteen points. They are currently third on the table. 

Charlestown are seventh, just three points outside the top five following a trio of wins, two draws and four losses. 

Hamilton enjoyed a solid start to the season, scoring fifteen goals in their opening six games. They have troubled the scorers three times in their last three matches however, and will be hoping to regain their scoring form after a weekend off.  

They have gone five games undefeated and will be intent on continuing this statistic this weekend.  

Charlestown on the other hand has only won once in their last five matches. They conceded three goals in four of those matches. They will need to tighten their defence this weekend as they take on a Hamilton side boasting a quality strike force. 

The last time the two sides met, Charlestown recorded their only clean sheet of the season; a 0-0 draw. 

They will be searching for their second clean sheet of the season this weekend, and also their fourth win. They will need to be at their best though as they take on one of the competition’s best sides.

Edgeworth FC vs. South Cardiff FC

In the final game of round eleven Edgeworth host South Cardiff at Jack McLaughlan Oval. 

Edgeworth is second on the ladder, trailing the Newcastle Jets Youth by just a point. They have won four, drawn as many, and have lost one. 

South Cardiff enter the round in eighth on ten points following three wins, a draw and five losses.  

Edgeworth’s last fixture saw them lose their first match of the 2014 season. They have been solid throughout the campaign, and will be looking to bounce right back this weekend against the Gunners. 

South Cardiff conceded a heart-breaking ninety-third minute goal in their last match against Lambton in the pouring rain, after Mitch Wallace had equalized in the ninetieth minute. They too will be looking to return to winning ways this weekend. 

The Gunners have been battling resiliently for weeks without key players Brad Watters, Jarryd Johnson and Daniel Johnson. James Byrnes is an individual who has stood up for the side, scoring seven goals from nine games to establish himself as the competitions leading goal scorer.  

The last time the sides met neither could break the deadlock, however Dean Kelley and Jarryd Johnson both hit the woodwork in what was a frustrating day in front of goal for the Gunners. 

Three points could take Edgeworth to first, or could shoot the Gunners into sixth. Either way both sides know the importance of winning this clash, and it will be an extremely fast paced, competitive fixture.
