The players got off to a slow start against Lincoln City, kicking into the breeze, they struggled to contain the speed and skill of the opposition. Following half time, they picked up the speed of the game much better, finishing the game strongly.
The second game was against Great Flinders, the side which kicked a goal after the siren in 2013 to snatch the game from Mid West. Leading from the start, Mid West were able to hold off a second half challenge from the Maroons to record a great win.
Given the younger average age of the team this year, they performed well in conditions much heavier than we are generally used to further north.
Well done to Jared Sampson as coach and all support crew, the boys represented with pride.
Congratulations must go to the Port Adelaide Cup winners - Eastern Eyre. They showed what a good side they were at the May interleague matches at Wudinna, carrying on that form in Port Lincoln.
