Inglewood continue winning streak
Report by Colin Outhwaite
Inglewood United held onto a first-half 3-1 score at Intiga Stadium to seal another victory and mark a fourth consecutive loss for Perth Glory.
Ryan Clarke, Teeboy Kamara and Ryan Francis found the back of the net for Inglewood and central defender Scott Blackmore scored an unfortunate own goal to get Glory on the score sheet.
Inglewood coach Graham Normanton said it was definitely an improvement on the previous week.
"When you get on an unbeaten run it's easy to get complacent which I think we did last week, so hopefully that has taught us a lesson," he said.
"We've still got a lot of improvements to make but we're having a good run so we're enjoying it."
Inglewood centre midfielder David Perich came close to opening the scores five minutes in when a one-two with Kamara set him up for a powerful strike at keeper Fraser Greenwood.
Glory responded with a near miss shortly after when Gian Albano half-volleyed a chest-down from Joe Knowles.
The Glory defence had trouble dealing with former Adelaide United striker Kamara and when they brought him down in the box, referee Steve Gregory had no hesitation in pointing to the spot.
Inglewood top goal scorer Clarke upped his tally to eight when he converted the penalty in the 25th minute.
18-year-old Kamara then got one for himself two minutes later when he tapped in a ball headed across goal by David Sesay.
Albano's efforts got Glory on the scoreboard in the 36th minute when he made a menacing run at the Inglewood defence and his shot was deflected into the net by Blackmore as keeper Luke Martino anticipated a save.
But two minutes into added time Ryan Francis sent Glory into the changing rooms with their heads down after his brilliant low drive from the edge of the area regained Inglewood's two-goal lead.
Glory pressed heavily for a result in the second half but gave the ball away cheaply which opened up the play for both teams.
Bor Bor Sambindi pestered the Inglewood defence throughout the game but his final crosses and shots proved to be harmless.
Inglewood also failed to convert their chances in the second half, with Sesay's 68th minute diving header from the six-yard box sailing over the bar with an open goal at his mercy.
Glory coach Scott Miller thought his side should have done better in front of goal but could still see some positives in the loss.
"We were really down on numbers today, but it gives other boys an opportunity to play against men,” he said.
“Some of them took it, some struggled, but it's great experience for them."
