Rep footy firing up
The naming of the Senior and Development representative squads is imminent ahead of the June long weekend matches against AFL Canberra (Seniors) and Black Diamond (Development). Last Saturday, both sides came together for an intra-club hit-out at Tom Wills Oval. It was also great to see Hall of Fame member, Barnaby Howarth, give an uplifting speech on what Rep footy means to him.
Rosedale a ripper
With matches at a premium in the higher divisions, Danny had the pleasure of having a look at a couple of games down at Moorebank. You got the country footy feel straight away when you drove into the venue with the smell of horses coming from the stables across the road.
What didn’t stink was the deck which is arguably the best in Sydney. Also doubling as a cricket venue during the summer, and the junior ground for the Liverpool Eagles.
Moorebank can not only be buoyish about the ground but also some of their young U19 talent coming through with James Bowman and Brad Wicken the pick of the bunch.
Family Day for Cats
The Camden Cats are celebrating their Annual Family Day with three games at Fairfax Reserve, Harrington Park- starting at 10am. There will be a jumping castle, giveaways, face painting and an appearance from G-Man.
Time after time for Warren
Danny always rates a good karaoke performance and this one could challenge our friend at Campbelltown for Best and Fairest honours. Check out Olivia Warren’s (Sydney Uni Women’s) rendition of "Time after Time" here at http://youtu.be/GJFvKku2TLQ
Straight Shooters
Word is there were 19 straight goals kicked in the Western Suburbs vs UTS Division Two match on the weekend. Unfortunately for UTS, most of them were kicked by the Magpies who ran out comfortable winners. Surely a record?!
Gossip ahead of Bats’ Ball
There is tension in the air ahead of the UTS Bats’ Ball this weekend.
With Thomas Zilm’s heartbreak of not being selected in the team of the week after buying several tickets on himself for a spot, TZ36 has jetted off to his home town, Toowoomba, and has yet to re-surface.
Word is also out that Michael May is "repping" a new hairdo ahead of the Ball and is said to be quite happy with it himself.
Over the Hill
Adrian Hill from Western Suburbs enjoyed his weekend off with the bye. On Friday night he was refused entry to a fine establishment, right next to the courthouse on Oxford Street. After being refused entry, word from a witness (ie. teammate) was that he was visibly upset the bouncer wouldn't let him in. Instead of getting a taxi home after one of the boys said he pay for it for him, he decided to get a bus all the way back to Maroubra because he 'wanted time to himself to think'. Danny disapproves this behaviour.
