The Darling Downs continues to produce talented female footballers, with three of the regions school-girls selected into the 2014 Queensland Under 16 side for the upcoming Nationals in Sydney in July.
Chloe MaDonald (South Toowoomba AFC/Fairholme), Jayne Finlay (Dalby AFC/Dalby SHS) and Shaliese Law (St Saviour's) have earned state selection after standout championships. Law was not at the school-girls State Championships, as she was in Canberra at the Under 18 National Championships.
Law was given compensation to represent her State at school-girl level after a standout 2014 that includes All-Australian honors.
MacDonald and Finlay are only in their first year of footy and have risen to the top of Queensland school-girls footy very quickly, in a matter of months. Both are now playing regular footy for their respective AFL Darling Downs women's clubs, with both players lining up against each other recently.
MacDonald has the bragging rights as her club side South Toowoomba defeated Finlay's side Dalby by 10points in a close contest.
Look out for the three very talented footballers throughout the AFL Darling Downs women's Blackchrome Cup with All-Australian Shaliese Law about to debut in the local competition.
Also congratulations to Tora Laffin who was named an emergency and DD coach Nick Clarry named manager for the Queensland 16&U state side.
