The South Burnett Saints are now in second spot on the AFL Darling Downs Division 2 ladder after notching up their third consecutive win.
The Saints took on Dalby in a closely fought match on Saturday at Lyle Vidler Oval.
The Swans have only had one win so far season but lifted for the encounter in Kingaroy.
However, the home team managed to be just ahead at every change and withstood a strong Swans’ fight back in the third quarter to finish 17.16 (118) to 12.10 (82).
Ty Snow starred for the South Burnett, ending the game with an impressive five goals.
Other Saints’ goal kickers were Brad Edwards (3), Brad Pressnell (3), Thomas Fowler (2), Paul Judge, Braeden Snow, Adam Bowater and Paul Pressnell.
The Saints will be back on the road next weekend, playing the Warwick Redback’s at Reddies Oval in Warwick on Sunday at 12:30pm.
In other division 2 matches University fought hard for their 16-point victory over Highfields with McLennan, Burgess and Sowerby booting 2 each for the Cougars. For the Lions Lachlan Porter and Mitchell Hennessy were the most damaging Highfields players.
Reigning Premiers Coolaroo easily accounted for Warwick by 86-points with veteran Chris Jackson botting 5-majors in the Roos' demolition of the Redback’s. Young-gun Aidan Watterson was also impressive up forward with 3-majors, as was return of mature age player Bevan Rudolph in his return to football.
For the Redbacks, James McKendry was superb, running hard and slicing through the Roos' at different stages.
South Toowoomba returned to the winners list in their Sunday afternoon encounter with Chinchilla. The 16-point victory was set up on the back of the 4-goal to zero opening term but the SUNS were their worst enemy booting 6 behinds in the opening stanza.
Bombers remain inside the top 4 with their 12.12 (84) to 9.14 (68)
