The Under14 Carmichael Builders Darling Downs Crows have suffered their fifth straight defeat, going down to Morningside by 106points at Heritage Oval on Sunday.
In a game most would say was one sided, with the scoreboard heavily on the Panthers side, the understrength Crows showed glimpses of a very bright future. The AFL Brisbane Juniors Division 1 ladder leaders booted 25 scoring shots to the Crows 4 in a game that will be quickly forgotten.
DD Crows 1.3 (9) def. by Morningside 18.7 (115)
In front of a relatively strong home crowd the Crows pounced in the opening exchanges, recording the first 5 inside forward 50's of the game but were unable to capitalise. The undefeated Panthers were quick to swoop on a Crows mistake and registered the first goal of the game late in the first quarter.
A five goal second term set up the Panthers and from here it was all Morningside, as the momentum was in the Brisbane based club hands.
To the Crows credit they ran all day but in the end were outclassed by the powerhouse Queensland club.
Darling Downs will travel to Graham Road in Brisbane's northern suburbs to take on the Aspley Hornets this Sunday and will welcome back a number of key players from Under 15 school-boy duties.
