South Toowoomba have taken their AFL Darling Downs women's winning streak to 14 straight games, after their dominate display against Goondiwindi on Saturday.
The Bombers were under scrutiny after last weeks scrappy win and questioned how long they could continue their winning form. To the red and blacks credit, the Bombers ladies answered all questions and outclassed their Goondiwindi opponents in impressive fashion.
South Toowoomba 25.20 (170) def. Goondiwindi 1.0 (6)
The Bombers next generation stepped up on the weekend in Chloe MacDonald, Heidi Gray and Caitlyn Costello along with star players Baldock and Seaniger. The frightening part for the rest of the competition is that those 5-players are all under 18 years of age.
Costello was impressive in just her second game of footy, booting 5-goals and skipper Bec McInnes also lead from the front. For the Hawks the Bell sisters and Wendy Litherland were the main contributors and have very bright futures ahead of them.
In the weekend's other Blackchrome Cup fixture Coolaroo remained on top of the ladder after a hard fought yet impressive 50-point victory over Warwick. To the Redback's credit the scoreboard didn't really reflect the game but the Roo girls made the most of the forward 50 entries.
Breeana Hoolihan and Mariah Pasfield were the navy blues best but no doubt the final tally of 9.19 may be something the Coolaroo coaching will work on during the week.
For the Warwick Redback's representative duo Cassie Cullen and Caitlin Harrison were the stars in the red and blue.
Coolaroo 9.19 (73) def. Warwick 3.5 (23)
The Roos' sit 2pts clear of premiers South Toowoomba but Coolaroo have one extra game of the Bombers girls.
